I was into RC cars about 10 years ago but ended up getting out of the hobby. This week I bought a Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate and have only taken it out for a run one time.

I mostly just plan to bash this one car. Last time I went a little too deep a little too fast and was spending way too much on the hobby.

Mostly just wondering if anyone else is into RC stuff. I imagine a lot of the people that would make up this community have transitioned to drones. Feel free to talk about drone stuff in this thread as well.

I have always thought they are pretty cool but am unwilling to spend the money for a bad *** one.
I was at the park by my house a while ago and these people had 2 of them. They were pretty huge. Almost looked big enough for a kid to ride on. They seemed like they were going about 60 miles per hour or something. Incredibly fast. They were awesome. I asked the owners how much they cost. Said one cost 750 bucks and the other about 1000.

Yeah that price range is pretty accurate. I mean it depends a little but from what you're describing I think they gave you reasonable numbers. I spent a little less but you also need batteries and a charger so I'm in that ballpark.

The big ones are fun. I had an E-Revo back in the day and that thing was a monster. If you gun it from a stand still the thing would do a back-flip.

The car I have now can do more than 70mph. It's a fun bashing RC to use in vacant lots and dirt lots to do some high speed runs and some jumping. They are expensive because stuff breaks and you spend as much time fixing your car as you do running it.

That is awesome. I wonder what the speed scales to. I have heard they can scale to well over 200 mph. Crazy. I would love to get into it, but as you mentioned, I have been playing around with drones. I am not sure it is for me either though, as I will not shell out enough for the VR ones they race with, and I am just not that into aerial photography, but it has been pretty fun so far. By far the most fun are the videos of drones crashing and burning, especially on water. Like dudes on boats that cannot anticipate where the wind is coming from so the thing smashes into the boat and falls into the water.
