Anyone with a Mazda 3 or 6?

Anyone ever own or driven one of these vehicles for a long stretch of time and have any input on them? I went to some of those Memorial Day sales and drove around a 2.3L 2006 (?) Mazda 3 and liked what I saw there. Would you recommend one of these cars and what's the pro/cons of them?

I dated a girl with one...

I once Saran wrapped it, with the heavy duty stuff as well!!!

She was pissed!!!

I don't know specifically about the 3 or 6, bro in law has a 626 that he has driven daily for years (12+) and had nary a problem with.

I would recommend staying away from them. I see them a lot in my shop, and they seem to have a lot of problems. My brother in law just sold his 3, he hated that thing. Of course there are always gonna be people who have them and love them. Just my opinion.

When I ran a mechanic shop I also saw lots of problems with them and would not recommend them to anyone I like.

They get into a lean idle funk and the check engine light stays on forever. Always ran good though and that was my only problem But I loved my speed3. Not a family car had to sell on favor of a Subaru outback for the woman.

Majority of the posters here are male-- so there won't be any mazda 3/6 drivers.

Best of luck with your car-shopping.

wife drives a 3. she has certainly had her problems with it, but they are what i would call from "user error". she crashed it into a mailbox once and seriously ****ed up her electrical system. but even before that, i can second that the check engine light literally never turns off. however, i think if she wouldn't have caused so many problems herself, it would be a pretty good car. she's gone 110,000 in five years with no mechanical problems thus far. although i do stay pretty vigilant on the regular maintenance.

my wife drives a 2006 mazda 6 it has 120,000 miles on it and it still runs great. and before we got married she never changed the oil.... when i took it to jiffy lube to get it changed the guy told me when he changed it he said "holy hell i didnt know oil could be this nasty" lol. i guess it was like sludge.... but we had it changed and it runs great. i bet it will run for a good 100k more.
