What's new

Are you read to hear from KOC "Sometimes the best trade is no trade"

Yet the Nets were able to trade Memo who can't even play. Sorry but what is the point of getting trade exceptions if you aren't even going to use them. So the Jazz are going to have seven years invested in CJ and have nothing to show for it. Seriously, why did they even match him? Most people had seen enough of CJ when his first contract expired. Sometimes you have to sell high and take a chance that your evaluation of a player is right. Now the Jazz are going to waste another year playing a player they are not going to keep.

I swear if the Jazz re-sign CJ I will be done with the team. 32 years of the same old crap is enough.

As if to rub salt in the trade deadline wounds, the Jazz employees on the radio just keep blabbing about how the jazz are battling tonight with the Timberwolfs for playoff possition. Truth is they are playing the wolfs tonight, the wolfs are 2 games ahead of the jazz, but the Wolfs are not in the playoffs and the way the jazz play there is no way they can catch Minny let alone the 8th spot.

Does anyone not employed by Miller Inc. believe this Jazz team can make the playoffs?

Fixed. Just because their boss has them spreading BS does not mean they buy into it.

I DO!

Oh wait...I'm employed by the jazz...err well, I'm Al Jefferson's personal message board liason...so i guess I am not technically employed by the jazz, per se...right?

Memo was traded as an expiring contract, not as a player. Maybe we could have made that same deal. Would Wallace have been worth it...our TPE PLUS a lottery pick (only Top 3 protected)? No $%^#@ WAY! I'll bet KOC has already had discussions re: the TPE. He worked on the Big Al trade for several months (started talking to Kahn before the previous year's trade deadline). And your points re: CJ don't make sense. Had we not matched, there would have been no compensation coming our way. We couldn't sell high. Two words why Utah matched: Mo Williams. We could have let a very young CJ go and had him develop into a great player. Oh yeah, two more words why we matched: Deron Williams. Deron asked the Jazz to match the offer. You do what your superstar requests when it's a pretty little thing he's asking. His option was renewed because CJ's contract amount is insignificant. Jazz had little depth at SG/SF when they picked up his option.

They are 2 games behind the 8th spot in the loss column. What makes you believe it's so impossible?
Three games overall. I hate it when people just use Loss or Win column. Using just the Loss column assumes you'll win the difference in games played. Since the Jazz are around .500, it's much more probable they'd split the two games. I could just as easily say the Jazz are FOUR back in the win column.

In any case, Jazz would need to make up 4 wins/lose 2 fewer times versus Dallas or Houston. Jazz would also need to make up 1 1/2 games on Minnesota and win more games than Phoenix (currently tied). Doable? Certainly. Likely given the way the Jazz have been playing? Probably not.

You're right. I just glanced at the standings for about 2 seconds. Probable? No. Doable? Yes. Impossible? Of course not.

So I'm driving home listening to Locke do the pregame and he starts interviewing KOC at precisely 6:58 pm KOC says: "Sometimes the best trade you can make is no trade."

I almost drove off the road laughing. I think my eyes were full of tears.

If I had a nickel for every time I've heard KOC use that line...

We should have started a pool to guess the exact time he'd utter that phrase.

And yet, it's true. I think KOC's reasoning is quite sound--he didn't want to do a deal for 20 games if it didn't help in the long term. I much rather that he not do a deal than do a dumb deal.

My only real disappointment is that KOC didn't unload Bell's worthless ***. The thought of watching that whiny, over the hill, cry baby take another second of playing time from Burks or Hayward is aggravating in the extreme.

Ouch!! Probably want to take this statement back!
