For those who haven't read the whole thing, he methodically destroys Corbin's coaching. He concludes by all-but assuming he's a goner:

Don't think a team next year that relies on those 4 only makes the playoffs, maybe not a step back, but I dont think we win more games.
I definitely wonder how a contract extension or the lack thereof will affect Hayward and Favors' play next season.

Great Article. I have been a corbin apologist for a while, but i have come to the conclusion that he is not the man for the job. He could be a good assistant coach, but we need someone else at the helm. The question is, who among the NBA assistant coaches is the next Tom Thibido or Frank Vogel?

I think Lindsey will eventually be a good GM, but the "family" mentality of this franchise will prevent him from doing his job for a long time. Lindsey knows Corbin is a "made man" and for the new guy to come in, start ruffling feathers, and upset the family would be a big no no. After watching the product San Antonio put out for many years, I can't fathom Lindsey likes Corbin at all.
Off the record, I think Locke is just as critical as anyone else. I think he just can't really say too much negativity because of his job.
I mean you can't take a paycheck from someone and just bring to light all the negative stuff. There is a lot of homerism built in to being a broadcaster that you have to focus on the best possible light on everything.
As for the Lowe article. I want to see Corbin gone. He obviously is not a real head coach. He doesn't play with "the hot hand" and he obviously can't make the in-game adjustments that decent/better coaches do. I think if he doesn't get something done with this group next year, if I was the Jazz FO, I wouldn't extend his contract further.

Like any other team the first coach after a HOF coach rarely succeeds but Corbin could definitely use a defensive asst coach if there is one to be had and if they want to keep him and try to make him successful IMO.
At least he's calling out Corbin.

I really don't mind them plagiarizing my work but I want to point out a correction that Zach Lowe clearly missed. He failed to include how Favors does the exact same mistake as Big Al on defending the PnR. I think he should have emphasized more how this is a likely what Corbin wants rather than another Al deficiency. It's a little upsetting when you get copied by a well respected journalist and he still misses key points.

The fact that he does not have one is just another nail in the coffin. If he does not realize the defense is that bad and needs help, just another indication that he is in over his head.

The team is probably already playing Jefferson too much, which brings us back to Corbin. Here's a remarkable thing: Utah's five most-used lineups this season have been outscored. Ditto for 17 of its 18 most commonly used three-man groups, and usually by margins much larger than Utah's overall negative scoring margin.
Only two of the 80 teams that have qualified for the playoffs in the last five years have done so with their top five lineups being outscored: the 2008-09 Bulls, and … last year's Jazz. This is very strong evidence that Corbin is basically just playing the wrong guys and wrong combinations in the wrong minutes distribution. His better defenders and all-around guys — Favors, Kanter, DeMarre Carroll, Gordon Hayward, et al. — deserve a larger chunk of the time going to Jefferson, Mo Williams (now back from injury), and others.
Basically stating that corbin has been playing the wrong guys all season, and that his better players have been stuck on the bench and not getting the minutes that they should get, while the vets get minutes no matter how bad they suck.

The Corbin interview was taped at 11:00 a.m. and played following the Zach Lowe interview later on.
He also added that the Jazz were possibly setting up a tank next year, which supports Corbin playing the vets up to the trade deadline trying to work something else in in advance. Still though, the evidence against Ty is starting to mount up.
On the flip side, he is playing the young kids more £¥£

Marvin Williams will have a breakout 25/7/4 year. Okay, maybe not. But no Al Jefferson? If Marvin became a deadeye shooter he could be a weapon for us. IF.
6 foot 9 and all that wasted ability though is just wowing. He as the athleticism, he has the jumpshot, he has decent ballhandling skills. How is he only averaging 7.7 points per game is just wowing. I blame it on Jefferson.

But I think there is a difference between tanking and rebuilding. I would view a season of us playing our young guys and plugging in dudes for supporting roles all the while losing as rebuilding. The c4 get the experience and begin to take the big steps we have been waiting for and as a bonus we get a nice pick. Purposely losing is not acceptable and the jazz would not do that.
