What's new

Ask Trey Burke.

I just don't get this inferior complex that many Jazz fans have about SLC and people not wanting to play for the Jazz.

It's one thing to think it's silly, but it's very understandable. I doubt there is a franchise who has been spurned more based on its geographic location than Utah/SLC has. Derek Harper and Rony Seikley can still go **** themselves.

That being said I don't take much about this comment.

we know how

lindsey said a couple of times that corbin wanted him badly
(apparently watching just some video, cause trey didn't had an workout with jazz), so they pushed for him

we know also that lindsey wanted kelly olynyk at 14th, the guy who they liked at workout

so it was basically corbin's choice

GTFO, You think they made the pick based on Corbins assesment. Jesus.

Wouldn't go that far. I think the key is lindsey wanted Olynyk AT 14. Dennis knew there was NO WAY Burke would drop that far so that wasn't even a consideration. It was only when Lindsey heard Olynyk was going to be off the board that he moved up. And at #9, Dennis determined Burke was the BPA over Olynyk. Had the news not leaked that Boston was going to take KO, Lindsey may have decided to stay at #14. Then the strategy might have been to use the #21 and other assets to trade up and grab Shroeder or Larkin. KO has a nice game, but I'm really liking Gobert. Perhaps my attitude will change on the draft if Burke doesn't work out.

How many years ago was Harper and Ronny not wanting to come? Raja Bell, Amaechi chose Utah over LA. Dwight Howard just pick Houston over LA. Both Jason Terry and Cory Maggette signed offer sheets to play in Utah. Every franchise have guys say they don't want to play in certain cities. Utah fans still take it way too personally.

At least we have the memory of Karl...who was happy to be in the city of Utah. Hell, we even threw him a parade for his birthday. How could he not like it? Just have a huge parade on Burke's birthday and he'll come around.

For what it's worth, according to Kevin Pelton's "Moneyball" model, Trey Burke significantly outperformed other point guards and was one of the top three or four players in the draft. So there's that.

Ohhh you have not heard...here we judge a players whole body of work against three games playing with D league players.

Guys did you see this???

Hooooooly ****! He likes East African women but not Utah women?? This is it! I was already done with him since he did not dominate the summer league, but now I'm REALLY done with him!

Must spread rep

Trade Trey Burke while we can still get something for him. Let's see how many minutes a 21% shooter will get when the season starts. I think his new nick name should be 21%. Or, should it be Trade Burke. I heard he couldn't beat Earl Watson in a game of H-O-R-S-E. Please tell us who on the Jazz wanted to draft this guy. I blame Ty.

You can't blame them, it's a 9th pick in a Draft that's the weakest it's been in like 5 years or so.

If Burke ends up being a bust, our F/O wasn't alone in thinking he would be good. After Marcus Smart withdrew his name Burke was regarded as the unanimous best PG left in the draft by scouts and GM's.

I don't think SL determines how well Burke will be with our team as a whole, but I do admit that I'm a little concerned about his court vision and playmaking ability in the NBA after seeing him be complete chucker all week.

If he does bust I would say the front office should be free of criticism. You don't select a guy based off mock drafts.

I don't think Trey's decision making and shooting is the problem. Its his lack of athleticsm. He seems like he is under pressure all the time. He isn't very good at creating space for himself.

And one of my concerns about him even before the NCAA tourney was I noticed he didn't look so good when pressured. However, I will hold my opinion on how he will turn out, because a SL is no measure by any means. But this was a major concern when everyone was talking how great he was going to be.
