What's new

At what point is it time to get off Trey Burke's !~@#$#

So he is in his 3rd year and you are seeing improvement. That is what supposed to happen. Some of you want instant success have never played a sport in your life and sit here online and judge players. Just enjpy the game and let the players deal with player development without every armchair qb here. Trey has been straight disrespected by majority of you. Yall realize that other players see this right ? Wonder why Jazz struggle in free agency. Its the location(no one wants to live in Utah) and the fans treat you like you are a piece of meat.

Yeah, you dont do this at all.

Trey being Trey is what made the fans turn on him last year; 0-13, 2-16 -- Trey forcing shots for the Glory of Trey is what pissed us off. Trey operating within the Quin system -- playing D and being selective in his shots -- is the huge improvement he has shown so far this season. But has he really changed or will he revert? Let's see what happens over the next month.

Disagreed, Trey being Trey hit 6 three pointers, scores 20+ and hits game winning shots, change your perspective!

I'm a pretty regular passenger on the Trey'd Burke bandwagon but his party is certainly looking a bit encouraging. Would love to see it continue.

Sent from the JazzFanz app

Was fully expecting to see you piss on another Trey-parade

The important question is..... do you trade Burke now that he actually has value?

It would have been dumb to trade him before (because the return would have been terrible), it probably still is, but now he is actually trade-able so the conversation of trading actually becomes legitimate.

Whenever I read your posts it always shows on my screen as blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Weird.

His posts show up on my screen like this:

I say trade Burke. As good as he's playing his skilkset doesn't really fit this team. All the wings on this team are really good at handling the ball which has been Trey's biggest consistent strength. He needs to be on a team with floor spacers not other guys doing what he essentially does best. If a 3&D type PG is available it would suit the Jazz to pull the trigger on that deal.

I lived in Utah for 7 years and also around the country (Baltimore, NJ (NYC area), Tennessee, Philly, Pittsburgh, LA). Utah fans are the least critical of their professional athletes. If you can't handle the "tepid heat" in Utah, you don't belong in the NBA. Moreover, the big city players get much more heat from National press.

And he is going to shoot 6/8 on threes how often? Would there be all this love if he shot 3/8, or 2/8, or 1/8? Which he will do, as it will revert to the mean. The big question of course will be whether his mean this year will be 32% on 3s or some higher number.

When he stops sending dick pics.

Is he using PM to send them to you? I think that was a one time offense, correct? Doesn't make it less weird, but I don't see what makes you think he continues to send dickpicks unless they are direct to you. Perhaps you aren't getting pics that you are aware of and you are butthurt about it? Nuf hypotheticals...

I said this before and I will keep saying it. Trey in 2014 is like Hayward in 2013. Low shooting % can be attributed to being asked to take on the scoring load. Hayward was asked to pick up the load and he had a TERRIBLE year. 12 months later, he was Haygod, the destroyer. Trey was asked to carry the scoring load for our TERRIBLE bench and he had a low %, but he ended the year starting to figure things out. This year, he is starting out the year playing better than ever. Trey will be a force off the bench. He won't ever be Westbrook, but no one is asking him to be. Allen Iverson lite? Jerryd Bayless heavy? Yeah... somewhere in there. A threat to score anytime he is on the court. Hopefully he keeps a strong attitude about him because he could turn into Kancertwo if he doesn't. I think he has a place on the 2015 team to say the least.

If you watch Burke though he's not just shooting well he's playing smarter. Which to your point is probably because he's not taking the whole "scorer off the bench" thing too literal. The only game I thought he started shooting too much was the Grizz game, but when you start that hot it's completely acceptable. Otherwise he's been making the correct basketball play at an (dare I say) elite level. Trey hitting his ceiling in this league will require him to be an excellent decision maker.

Thank god he's not chucking this year. That was painful.

The comments in the NBA Ranking update were all about Burke

Utah (4-2)
Pace: 94.1 (30) OffRtg: 99.1 (17) DefRtg: 90.3 (1) NetRtg: +8.8 (2)
Jazz games continue to be rather slow and ugly, but Trey Burke is off to a strong offensive start, scoring in double-figures off the bench in each of the last five games after a scoreless opener. Utah's bench has good passers - Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles - on the wings, so Burke can be more of a scorer than a playmaker in backing up rookie Raul Neto. His usage rate is up, but his assist rate is way down from last season.
