At what price will the Jazz not match Hayward's contract?

I didn't say he wasn't worth $10mm or whatever, just that I would not pay a role player that kind of doe if I were in the Jazz' position. If you're Portland then you can match Batum's expensive contract because your owner is a mega-billionaire. If you're Utah then you have to spend the money a little wiser.

Portland is a good comparison if you want to build a contender:

Trey <<<< Lilliard
Burks <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Matthews
Hayward < Batum
Favors <<< Aldridge
Lopez << Kanter

That team is at $63mm with Aldridge on a cheaper deal than his next will be and Lilliard on a rookie scale. The team is superior in talent at every position. It's also not likely to be a championship contender with a salary structure that's probably going to be somewhere around $75mm in a couple years.

The Jazz cannot afford to pay Hayward like Portland paid Batum. Korver is a more efficient scorer and slightly better defender and cheaper. That's who I would pay if I were the Jazz.

Two of those guys (Batum and Matthews) were considered bad contracts at the time of signing. Matthews was a 23 year old 9ppg scorer at the time, Batum's numbers were below where Hayward is now. They flat out got lucky, or hired the right coach.

This makes absolutely no logical sense...so the Jazz supposedly offered $40M/4 yrs to Hayward, knowing he would be the #1 option this season. Then he proves he can't handle that responsibility, but somehow he still should be rewarded with the same money (or more) to be a #2, 3, or 4th option on the team? Geez, I wish that's how it worked in the real world, I'd ask for a demotion with less responsibility while keeping my pay the same.

They offered him that money not to be a #1 option on a bad team, but to be that tertiary/secondary option on a good team. Why would they pay him to be junk on a bad team?

Getting ATL's rights to swap with Brooklyn could end up alright, especially if Brooklyn keeps this bonehead Kidd on.

You would need the jaws of life to pry those rights away from Atlanta. Are you saying the Jazz could get them by trading Hayward to them? Because sign me the **** up.

How much does Afflalo make? He is ten times better then Korver. Another dumbass statement from you regarding Hayward vs Korver.

Afflalo makes $7,5 and Korver $6,7! Hayward will get presumably more although he is not so much better than both. So my statement is not dumbass!

All of a sudden Portland is a good comparison for a contender because they're finally playing well this year right? lol.....
