What's new

August 24: Enes Kanter new zeland match is starting now.>Turkey - New Zealand < LIVE MATCH HERE:)

Dont see it. Scola doesnt come across as nearly as much of a agressive rebounder (especially on the offensive end) than what Kanter is acclaimed to become in a couple of eyars, perhaps even now. Plus we all know how good Scola defends. Id say Kevin Love as well, hopefully hell become a better defender.
I don't see the Scola comparison. Scola depends on his smarts (and then his motor) more than anything. Kanter relies on his strength more than anything. If Kanter can become as crafty as Scola, he'll be pretty damn good.

I feel like Kanter has a high enough BBIQ that the more playing time he gets the more crafty he will become. I have seen that growth with the few games that he has played in so far. The first few games you could see that he was only relying on his power to get to the rim and to finish and when the calls where not coming he was left with noting because the ball wasn't going in as consistently as it is now.

In todays game during the 2nd half (which is the only half that I was able to watch) there were at least two times when instead of strictly using power he did a little fake move and when to the basket. I think things like that will only happen more and more. He will become crafty as his career advances. Scola is 31 now and Kanter is 19. By the time Kanter has about 4 or 5 years in the NBA he will be very crafty as well and hopefully becomes a force to be reckond with.

no disrespect to karl malone, he is one of the greatest to ever to play the game, but i like the kanter-malone comparisons. while kanter might never become the scorer and passer karl was, i do see some similarities. both do not have excellent size, but they have an excellent body frame and strength, pretty similar frame. kanter is also a tough player and and does not shy away from contact. both have incredible high motors. kevin love does not have as high of a motor as enes and i do believe that kanter might become the better defender. best case: karl malone, realistic case: kevin love, worst case: a better version of zaza pachulia (both, scoring and rebounding, but i don't see this happening, enes is way too skilled) or just a poor man's karl malone. he has the potential to become a 20-10 player in this league with some all-star nominations. it's scary to think what a duo of favors and kanter will look like in 3-4 years...

enes was again the best player for turkey, for the third time in a row, imo, despite playing only like 15 minutes per game... incredible for a 19 years old who hasn't played organised basketball for 2 years... right now, i do believe that he is the best player on the turkish roster, maybe together with omer asik... for playing under such a horrible coach, i think we can be excited about him and his performances... incredible rebound and scoring numbers with high percentages despite not getting that much playing time in each game... he had the highest scoring (14 pts) and rebounding numbers (6 rebs, together with omer asik)...

Encouraged that he is doing better, still worried about how he will play against NBA size though.

he played great against dirk and kaman, too... (despite not getting as much playing time as he deserves due to the horrible turkish coach)

Thanks for the highlights. There is no doubt he knows how to use his frame to dominate smaller opponents. Any NBA team without a legit center is probably going to be abused by Kanter or have to send non stop double teams. Having said that, the ones that do could bother Kanter. Most of those shots aren't gong in against a Bynum, a Gasol, or a Bogut. For those guys you need a lot more craftiness and a good medium range jump shot to make them pay. A rigorous weight lifting program overseen by Malone would help as well.

he has been averaging 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds over the last 7 games while playing like 10 minutes per game. if he would get his well deserved 20 minutes, he would average over 12 points and 8 boards per game. those are great numbers! if you take into account that he has a horrible coach, bad guards leading the team and that he has not played organised basketball for two years, then those numbers even seem to be more incredible. you also have to know that the system in europe is different and slower than in the states. really scarry good numbers for a guy who just turned 19 years old!

How long are the games? Four quarters of 12 minutes like NBA? Or two halves of 20 minutes like NCAA? Or other?

Do they ever call traveling in this thing, not that they call it that much in the NBA but just noticed he shuffles his feet a lot.
