What's new

Awesome AK article.. To all the nay-sayers.

Wow, I feel like there's egg all over my face after reading that article having PREVIOUSLY been a nayer of say's. Well played..........................well played.

Hate to say it, but it would not surprise me if he bolts for Russia and more $$$ next season.
And by Russia, you mean the New Jersey, soon to be Brooklyn, Nyets.
Prokhorov has already been pimpin the team in Russia. To sign Russia's best known basketball player seems like a no-brainer. He'll make up AK's salary in marketing revenue. Every bball fan in Russia will become a fan of the Nets, even if AK comes off the bench.

There will be some money or bene's offered under the table to AK. Stern can't control what goes on outside the U.S. Besides, he's a whore...he'll look the other way if it means advancing interest in the NBA in another country.

If AK has a great - or even good - year, he'll get a full MLE offer from New Jersey.

He might get more than the MLE. New Jersey foolishly gave Travis Outlaw $7 million

Probably should have said, full MLE is the minimum. New Jersey will go hard after Anthony. If they sign Carmelo, then they'd only have the MLE left. But that would certainly make them a very good team: Lopez, Anthony and AK, with Favors and Outlaw as the backup forwards. I think they'd then look to trade Murphy. Harris and Farmar is a pretty good tandem at PG. Their biggest weakness would be at SG. They'd need Morrow or Terence Williams to develop.

But the fact that Utah almost did trade him before ...

That was the rumor. I didn't see anything that made it particularly believable.

6-8 would be ideal, the harsh reality is many teams still have a lot of cash to burn and it may take 10 million/year. At that point we promote Jeremy Evans and throw him into the fire.

At 10 million/year, Kirilenko is still very well-priced as long as the contract is short (3 years or so). I don't think Evans will be ready next year.

Yeah, KOC has already officially said they are not planning on trading AK (take it as you will).
There's been rumors of him being possibly traded almost every off-season, going all the way back to 2004.

I definitely agree on paying Kirilenko 10 million. He's a starting forward, come on now.
Not to mention if you look at anybodies list of top SF's in the league, Kirilenko is always in the top 10.

Especially in General Managers circles.
