An inconvenient truth that we might be waking up to is when you look at the wealth distribution of this country...

Some scrub in the NBA this offseason will make in just one season more than all the cops and teachers in this nation combined.

When we pay teacher and police officers crap. Take away their pensions and benefits. Don't be surprised if you get people completely unable to do any other job.

Raise their pay so much that it actually attracts a higher quality candidate. Someone not so quick to the trigger.

Not getting paid enough is not an excuse to take someone elses life.

I was with you until you said shoot in the arm or leg. There is no circumstance when police should shoot to disable. First, gunshots are potentially lethal no matter where you aim. Second, you should never fire you gun unless you are in eminent mortal danger, so you should never have time to think about that and aim at an appendage. And those shots have a much greater chance of missing entirely, which increases the chance that they hit someone or something else. And gunshots aren't very good at stopping someone by hitting their arm. Third, firing your gun is done to stop the threat, which is best and most reliably accomplished by shooting center mass, which means chest.
