Bear wins third mascot of the year award

It's one guy, I coached the daughter of one of the Jazz FO guys a couple years ago. He said the guy is in his 50s now and that's why you don't see the crazy stunts you saw back in the day, but it's always been the same guy with some guys to step in when he is injured.
When Donovan heard the guy was in his 50's, he offered to suit up for all promo appearances and non-game activities to give the man some time off. Just a rumor I heard.

I heard he actually puts the suit on during halftime, before Quinn gives his big speech, goes out and does a couple of trampoline slam dunks and motorcycle rides, then goes back to the locker room. After the games he practices brain surgery for when he operates on Jerry Sloan to give him back his full faculties.

Again, is this supposed to be someone we’d otherwise know? Because if it’s some random dude that none of us would know, I don’t know how anyone could possibly “out” him (“he’s that mid-50s dude with short, brown hair... oh, yeah, him!”)

Pretty random, as far as I know. Some mascots around the league are very open about who they are and what they do. Bear has always taken great pride in making it about the character rather than the guy inside the suit. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz retire the character when his career ends.

In fact, I'd be surprised if they DON'T retire the Bear costume when the guy retires. Probably with a ceremony and announcement of who the guy has been this whole time.
