I haven't heard the David Locke/Karl Malone story, please share the details.

basically there was a lot of noise in the 90s that suggested karl would perk up for the NBC cameras or national media attention, but didn't give a crap about the local guys. he would frequently evade post-game interviews unless it was a national game, and locke was one of the guys who really called him on it. karl eventually made nice with all of the other guys involved in the spat, but felt personally attacked by the way locke spoke about him, so the two never really buried the hatchet until years later, after locke had come back from seattle.

Wow, I read the des news story and that wasn't even what I was talking about. I didn't know things had gotten that bad.
What I remember from Locke's telling was Locke and Coach Nissalke were doing a radio show at the Delta Center durring the finals and were talking about how Karl had let the team down or needed to perform better. In the middle of their talking they turned to see Karl standing nearby glaring at them. They finished the segment but Karl had been disrespected so he said a few strong words to Locke and Nisalke. Then Karl took it to managment with a bunch of other gripes.
Later there was an incedent in the studios. Karl came in for an interview and was laughing and joking with one of the hosts then turned on the other and said something to the effect of 'I don't like you and I'm going to come over there and kick your butt' apparently the guy was terrified and Karl seemed quite serious. I don't think it was Locke because the Karl & Locke rift was already known and I doubt Locke would have the courage to show up to interview an angry Karl.
It was a strange time, Karl who had been mostly ignored by the national media and defended by the local media was now adored by the national media and criticized by the locals. Funny that now in the retelling the local media guys always talks about how Karl felt disrespected by the Jazz becasuse of the Ostertag contract, but they selectively ignored the betrayal by the local media.
