I think Joe is on the right track. Go check out nearly any facebook post. Everyone forwards the crap like it is the newest greatest discovery and only rarely does anyone say anything like "hey did anyone check snopes on this"? I think the average person does not go look things up. They just read, get outraged and/or smug, and forward/repost.

I disagree. The average person looks up so much on the internet and most people find good information. False facts do float around but they get disproved much quicker now than ever. People are more skeptical of things told to them than ever since they can research it right away. Its really easy to figure out if something is false now days. Before it took quite an effort to research something. Now I can just google a fact told to me while someone is telling me. False info dies quick. Where before it could be devastating the harm lies and false information could do to a community.

Our access to good quality news is significantly better and more people are getting it.

The information available is miles ahead of what it was before the internet. I dont think its really close.

Plus IQs have risen. Although I think that is more due to people getting more education. Although there is a direct correlation between internet use and education levels.

Health care and general health knowledge has significantly gone up.

The information increase in less developed counties or countries with a government that controls the media is even more overwhelming how much the internet helps.

Ben Shapiro is a much-needed articulate spokesman for a lot of people who are just fed up with the standard fare of propaganda that prevails today. Pretty sure any good beliefs will be re-formatted somehow in response to really well-thought out intelligent challenge.

fact is, the average Joe getting a blip or two off the radio talk shows' " bomb-throwing" hosts might have rational concerns about the continuity of the American Experiment. Pretty sure a lot of Israeli citizens have rational concerns about their security. What we gonna do? round up the dumbass American patriots and re-educate them. Really???? It's just a mark of stupidity that you think of a Hannity as a "bomb-thrower". Just because you have no actually decent or intelligent response to things he says, or just because the wheels have fallen off the Progressive wagon. All I've seen so far is pretty low-level assertions from "fact-check" propaganda support sites which I find incredibly uninformed and unintelligent, actually. I think Hannity has been willing to go on air with stuff that had real sources and at least some basis generally. He's more of a reporter/journalist even while being an opinion purveyor than some of our supposedly "dedicated, objective" professing news outlets.

But if Sean Hannity is IQ 115 or so, Shapiro is a much higher level debater and analyst. Yes, he talks like a lawyer, and crafts his arguments with the same dedicated all-out advocacy, but he is prepared to dress them out in detail to all comers. I find him civil to his critics, and he does not stand on ideology like say Ayn Rand or any brand of American nationalist/patriot. He stands on his reasoning. He is deliberate in his stand, intending to challenge the conventional chatter du jour.

If you're a progressive or idealistic wonk in favor of some better world for mankind, you just need to step up to the plate and deal with the pitch.

Pretty stupid of people like Hillary broadsiding a majority of American citizens calling them "deplorables", and in fact pretty stupid of the brave new world pushers in here not noticing that their audience is shrinking.

Basketball fans aren't know for being particularly liberal, nor are Utahns generally, and maybe it'd be a little smarter, in missionary lingo, to mix with the natives a little and let them know you're human, too.

You really can't win the argument, in the sense of folks saying "Dutch, you're absolutely right", but you are entitled to believe whatever you want, just as we are entitled to not believe you. That's pretty simple, no? Here, however, folks are just sick and tired of your effort to derail threads with your unrelated crusade. So go and read what I offered you in an honest effort to provide you with an answer. As near as I can tell, Alt Left is a term made up by conservatives as an insult to liberals. There doesn't seem to be a group that calls themselves Alt Left.

It appears to be true that Alt Right was coined by Richard Spencer, who considers himself and his contemporaries to be Alt Right as an alternative term to White Nationalists.

Some people might call Antifa the Alt Left, but as they don't call themselves that, it is a meaningless term.

your answer is inadequate. because you mentioned people, you did not addressed the fact that Hitler almost exclusively implemented left wing policies.


your post is basically saying: it doesn't matter that hitler actually ruled the country like a socialist. what matters is what certain people and or groups of people nowadays think about his political leaning. i guess when most of the the people believed earth was flat. the earth was actually flat! that seems to be your argument

If anyone gets the chance, I recommend watching/listening to Ben Shapiro on Joe Rogan's podcast. I love listening to Rogan, most the time. Dude is a realist and level headed about most things and is a fan of Shapiro.
A few minutes into the podcast Shapiro excellently explains the difference between liberals and leftists and how leftists match and scale their ideologies to their identity so instead of countering disagreements with an actual argument, they resort to name calling/personal attacks and/or violence.
Btw, I know there are lots of closet Shapiro fans on here. It's kinda sad, to me, you have to be hush-hush about it and fear ridicule or false labels and guilt by association of someone's made up perspective (like if you like Shapiro you're a nationalists, racist, alt-right.)

Name one institution that's inherently racist and the evidence to support that claim in 2017. You'll be able to find individual cases of rascism and corruption like the Baltimore PD, but the idea that the government and other institutions are run in a racist way from the top, is a false narrative. Yes, the US has a history of institutional rascism, but as we've evolved as a country, it's not like that any more.

My post was in response to Dala keeping the debate open with Dutch on this tired *** issue.

Dutch keeps saying other people are "screaming" about Hitler being right-wing. Log has an A+ post explaining how it absolutely doesn't matter. We should have followed that lead and shut that line of discussion down, since, you know, it doesn't matter at all if Hitler was a leftist or a rightist or based on our current political landscape a hybrid and/or some one who got his foot in the door with socialism (everyone was a socialist in the aftermath of the great depression, it was the place to be for smart political figures in the 1930s) and then flipped to hard-right authoritarianism. It doesn't matter.
