I like horny but I think the jazz should bring in at other head coach with the understanding that horny will be first assistant
Whether we put Horny, Phil Jackson, SVG, or JVG as our head coaches it won't matter because we'll all still be bitching about something.
Just another "hire Horny" sentimental impulse that has no basis in reality.
I wonder how Lindsey "Honestly" feels about Corbin and the prospects of hiring another coach outside of the organization. This is a young team. Having a young inexperienced coach is a bad idea. We need a proven coach or a coach that brings respectability. We can not miss with the next coach if we fire butt head. That would be a disaster for this team.
Hell, do the Jazz even have a head AC right now? Or are all assistants on the same level?
All of this may be true. But I still think it is a mistake to have a team as young as the Jazz will be next year led by a coach with no experience as a head coach in the league.Let's play a little Devil's Advocate here. Look at two guys who we think of as great head coaches in the NBA and the experience they had:
1. Pat Riley, none -- he was the color guy for the Lakers TV broadcasts when he was brought in, but a close friend of Jerry West, as they played together for the Lakers, and Jerry was GM.
2. Phil Jackson, a couple of the years in the CBA.
Both were established players in the NBA but not stars and certainly lesser players than Horny. Plus Horny was a much smarter player than either. I saw both of them play many times, being from NY -- Jackson playing for the Knicks and Riley having gone to my high school.
That doesn't mean Horny can be as successful. And Jackson and Riley both have more dominant personalities than Horny, so that might be a factor. But you can't just say Horny won't be successful because he lacks HC experience. He played in the NBA many years, both as a SG and PG (for the Suns, he played a lot of point). And his father was a basketball coach in Chicago.
