Best Movie Soundtracks

At the risk of losing my man card, I am definitely downloading the new Twilight soundtrack when it comes out. I've never read the books or seen the movies, but anything that has The Black Keys and The Dead Weather back to back will be bought by me.

It is a very good soundtrack. It might be even better if you haven't seen any of the movies, too.

Gross Pointe Blank

It has two of my favorite Clash songs- "Armagideon Time" and "Rudie Can't Fail", the amazing GnR cover of "Live and Let Die", Queen/ David Bowie, and The Specials

That would be the Judgment Night soundtrack. Epic. I love the Cypress Hill/Sonic Youth song on there.

The movie was ok. Nothing great. Denis Leary as some sort of psychopath gangbanger was, uh, interesting. And it was in Detroit, although both areas rough parts are total nightmares.
Crap you beat me to it and whenever I think of that one I'm reminded of the movie "Trespass" and "Colors" (killer movie and soundtrack)

"Do the Right Thing" is another one that I forgot. And damn, "Purple Rain". 1984 YB would be disappointed that 2010 YB forgot that, but pleased that 2010 YB refers to himself in third-username.

I would like to echo last of the Mohicans, though for me what did it was the recent Nike commercial staring Merriman and Steven Jackson repeatedly taking hits and moving on set to the theme from that movie. I also enjoyed the soundtrack from the Watcher. One of those "so bad its good" movies staring Keanu Reeves.

Haha, I was trying to decide whether or not to mention this and then I saw your post, haha. Agreed though, and the New Moon soundtrack was pretty good too, IMO. I've talked to the lady who did that soundtrack, Alex Patasavas, a few times.

Back when I was a kid, one of the first albums my dad bought for his new stereo was the "FM" soundtrack. Two LP's of some of the greatest classic rock of the mid-late 70's. Oh, and it had the Eagles, too. And Dan Fogelberg. WTF?

When I was in high school, the soundtrack to "Heavy Metal" was a must to be playing from the speakers of everyone's Pinto, Nova, and Vega.

Never saw this post before. My father too. I don’t recall loving the album though I don’t think he played it much and I wasn’t as well-versed in classic rock. My recollection without looking it up is there was a Steely Dan song on there and a Queen song...could be wrong.

I’m not sure how I didn’t put some other great scores other than Braveheart that I love that sometimes bring me to tears.

Legends of the Fall
Field of Dreams

There are so many by Ennio Morricone (Mission, Once upon a time in America, The Good, the bad and the ugly..), Nino Rota (Godfather, Leopard..), John Williams has plenty great ones too. I am not really a fan of Hans Zimmer.

How bout the soundtrack to Barry Lyndon? Stanley Kubricks soundtracks are often so iconic(2001/the shining) they always get criminally underrated in these discussions. I'm sure of it.
