Best shows on TV?

I dunno what it's like for everyone else but I usually have my laptop next to me whenever I watch a movie or a show on TV. If what I'm watching is engaging enough I won't look at the laptop at all. To me that's taut drama. It is engaging, you feel like you need to take in every word each actor is saying, it is just that important. True Detective, Broadchurch, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Sherlock,... these shows to me fit that description.


If the opposite is true, I'll be surfing the net, reading Jazzfanz, checking out ESPN, etc, while peeking at the show/movie once in a while to make sure I know what's roughly going on. If I have time to do all that then it's not engaging enough for me.

Holy ****. So as long as subtlety isn't important you're in.
 
Why would I want you to play my favorite shows in the background while you **** around with your laptop.

Sometimes you have to pay attention to a show in order to see what it's all about. Not every show bashes you over the head with what's going on.

Nah I give every show an opportunity to impress me.. like I'll watch the first 2-3 episodes and try to really get into them.


BTW I love Twin Peaks (first season) and that didn't hit me hard but it was engaging and interesting. Direction, story, acting,... all subtle but engaging.
 
Also I loved Boyhood - that's a SOLID 3-hours of subtlety right there.



I thought it should have won Best Picture at the Oscars.

Ya season 2 is better.
The show gets better as Walt gets more evil/villian-like imo

Also you will eventually meet some dudes named Gus and Mike. They are fantastic parts of the show

Definitely lacking in the hottie department.

Jessie has a love interest at some point and she is kinda hot
 
So, one of my guilt pleasures is the show Girls. I thought this was the best season thus far. Anyway, I finished it this week and the last two episodes were ****ing fantastic. I mean, they were some really ****ing strong episodes. I am also happy that Mr. Peter Scolari is still in the game.

I really liked the first season but I think I quit watching in the second season because I was sick of seeing Lena Dunham's boobs all the time. I was seriously like put a damn shirt on already.
