What's new

Best shows on TV?

It's sort of a murder mystery that shows the inner workings of the criminal justice bureaucracy.

There's a college aged Pakistani-American kid who does something completely out of character for him and ends up in a situation where he is charged with murder.

This first episode was pretty slow moving. I'm expecting it to get better.

There are a lot of people with ties to "The Wire" involved in it and James Gandolfini is on the credits as a producer. I guess he was trying to get this show going before he passed away, he was going to play one of the lead roles.
Sounds pretty damn good. I might have to check it out.

Stranger Things on Netflix is solid. I'm a little over an episode in. It gets a 9.1 on imdb. That's a bit high for me but it's really solid. It takes place in the 80's and does a very good job of feeling like it. It's very Spielberg/Goonies-ish. That said, it's no surprise Winona Ryder hasn't gotten good work in 20 years. She almost ruins it for me. Awful.

The 100.

The League.

Workaholics.

Top-3 for me right now.

You will not be disappointed.

If you like workaholics then you have to watch Broad City... It's even better.

What is The 100 about?

VEEP is absolutely hysterical. The writing is phenomenal and there are so many great characters, all tightly wound into just 25 minutes.
I'm watching this right now. Just started season 2.
Very very funny. Reminds me A Lot of arrested development with the writing style and large cast of great characters.

I flew through The Sopranos over three weeks and finished it yesterday. I liked it a lot. That said, it was not up to par with The Wire and tbh, I don't even think it's that close. It was quite formulaic, had weak antagonists for many seasons (I did love Richie Aprile in season two which I thought was the strongest season) thus making weak conflict and tension, and at times, quite frankly, was a little silly with how many murders not only took place but took place in public and yet these guys were never caught. It wasn't quite as ridiculous as Dexter in that regard but yeah, it was a little too far-fetched. Killing two Vipers behind the liquor store, bringing Big ***** onto the boat after leaving his house with his wife home, and on and on. I can suspend some disbelief. But only so many times.

I'm now onto GoT and almost done season one.

It's really good. The first two episodes are a little slower, but still better than average. Once the third episode hits...holy crap. It's great.

Silicon Valley was great season one and then they cleaned up the ape. Too much so.

Good to know. If the first couple episodes don't get me drawn in, I will give it at least one more.

Though I bet I will like it. I'm not a very harsh critic and everyone seems to love it.

I really enjoy BattleBots. Teams build various non-humanoid robots and then they use an NCAA tournament style seeding system and fight 1 on 1 in a steel cage. Single elimination. Some have huge claw arms, some shoot fire, some have fast spinning sharp blades, some fly, etc. The announcers are way over the top with cheese, but I always laugh.

Yep, I'm into Battlebots as well. I fast forward most of the announcer stuff, though. Just watch the intro to the robots/teams, then fast forward to the battle.

And of course I watched the original back in the 90's. :-)
