What's new

Big Al benched...

Hey.. Al.. I love ya man, but you better start playing with energy on a consistent basis because if you don't you'll be replaced by Fesenko... Who might I add is showing effort and even though he's a liability on the offensive end of the court, he makes up for that with his tenacious defense in the paint and his hustling for the rebounds...

I think Al thinks he's still in Minnesota and when the Jazz get down he seems to lose interest... Maybe Sloan benching him will light a fire under his ***...

This is why I love Sloan... He doesn't give a **** if you're a million dollar man on this team or not, if you're not playing with heart, he's going to pull your ***!

If Al isn't gonna bring it, it's time to give Fess a chance to shine... surprised it took 7 games for Fess to get his first shot to show his newfound basketball skills

Sloan coached with his nuts and his gut, InGameStrategy's coaching 101 is going to be deserted in the future.

Al Jeff should be benched. The guy couldn't hit a open lay up to save his life. He has been highly disappointing so far this year. He just seems to be couple steps slow on offense. I am not sure if its because he should be playing PF or if it is really just that he is to dumb to learn the offense.

I love big Al, but this is the best thing that could have happened to him, and us. I think if we bring him off the bench for a few weeks, he'll get better. I really hope it's just the stress gettin to him.

I think this was necessary and a wake up call to him. We just showed we can beat Miami in Miami without him. This will make his step up his game , because Sloan showed no reservations to benching one of his "stars".

his touch around the basket has been off and his hands have been horrible. i hope both are correctable. also when he was out, the ball was flying around on offense and everyone was touching it and passing great. Al needs to take note.

Big Al looked pissed as they were walking off the court. Anyone see that?

(ps: bring back Bozzer!)

I noticed that during the 4th quarter comeback he was sitting on the bench bored while the rest of the guys were jumping up and down... not a great sign.

I like Big Al and I want him to stick around (dont bring back Boozer, who also, would have been on the bench) but he needed to be benched tonight,. If Al's offense isn't working he isn't a good enough defensive player to make up for it, Al needs to score to be productive.

Big Al better get the message quick. He will either get it right and step up or Jerry will let him sit there and rot. Big Al can adjust the easy way or find out the hard way.

There should be no one on the Utah bus right now looking forward to tomorrow's game more than AJ.

I bet he responds with a 20/10

I am not convinced he is gonna make the transition. He just seems to be one dimensional on offense: "throw it to me and I will try to score." He does not seem to be adapting at all to the Jazz system.

Holy crap people relax! He needs time, its obvious, but he with Milsap will be rolling later this year. The jazz have a simple yet complex offense you really have to understand all that is going on so you can be effective. He will get better. They haven't even played 10 games!

We're not even 10 games in. It could take a full season for Big Al to truly adapt to this style of offense.

He is playing with little energy and his little push shot is not working at all. Not to mention he isn't boxing out well or making some simple 3 foot layups. I think Al is a really nice guy but he needs to get a lot better than he has been.

Absolutely. Im not worried about Jefferson at all. It's just going to take him some time.

Well put. If he shows some pride and guts, he'll show us something tomorrow.

That's all good. But meanwhile, he should not be getting 35 mpg. Until He adapts, Fes should get at least 15-18 minutes a game.

I really liked the defensive play by Fes tonight. He was making everyone on the heat team adjust, or just plain miss. My favorite was when he busted his but down the court when Williams fouled James at the foul line. Big Fes can move.

who would have thought that Fes would play all of the fourth and into overtime if my memory is correct. And on top of that, he didnt look winded.

If things continue like this you could see Jefferson come off the bench. Not a bad move really, then you have a true center start and an inside scorer on the second unit.
