Big Al Working Hard

This is also from the P3 guys, commenting on Big Al:

Al Jefferson is making huge physical gains this off-season at P3...much of our work has focused on creating dynamic hip stability and shifting demand from knees to hip. This process involves both strengthening and neuromuscular re-education of how to stabilize and activate his gluteus medius and upper-third of gluteus maximus...

Sounds like they are working on avoiding knee injuries and low post

BTW, in Al's breakout year with the Celtics, they had the second worst season in franchise history.

And even though he was traded for about as literally nothing as you can get in the NBA, the Wolves didn't get any worse. In fact, they actually got a little better.

But yeah, I hope he makes me look stupid too.

Better? What was the win/loss record of the Wolves this season again........? 2 more wins isnt necessarily an improvement in the grand scheme of a team, especially after the acquiaition of a 4th overall draft pick

They won 17 games this year. They won 15 the year before.

So, they didn't get any worse. In fact they actually got a little better.

plz see old post, I edited it.

Still applies. They didn't get any worse.

And I'm not sure if you followed Wesley Johnson last year or not, but he was not very good. If Al is this super-rare, super-coveted player of franchise-player caliber, you'd think...

Who am I kidding, I've connected the dots too many times. Goodnight everyone.

and ps if youre stupid enough to think that had the wolves hung on to jefferson, along with having love and johnson on the same team would have not had a better record than 17 wins last season, I have no idea what to tell you. So, yes, Kahn was stupid, and so are you for blaming one of the worst coached teams in the leagues consistent failure on one player.

Color me skeptical on a guy that's amassed only superficial numbers and the excuses of supporters for his entire career. And whose arrival also totally coincidentally coincided with the implosion of the league's 2nd most stable organization and second losing season in the last... 20-something years. Almost 30 years, off the top of my head.

Trying hard to shut up. Will try harder.

They also got a 2nd overall pick, good point.

I was referring to the 2010 draft, aka who al wouldve played with if there was no trade. "good point" idiot

EDIT: I thought your post was meant in a sarcastic note, I revoke my internet beef if you weren't.

It was sarcastic, but also true. Darko Milicic.

Sigh. My point is that the number a player is drafted at is rather moot in contrast to WHAT THEY ACTUALLY ****ING DO.

And personally to summarize this scenario, I think this upcoming season is make or break for all. If he can average 20/10, play decent defense together with his PF AND lead his team to the playoffs, I think we have a top 10 C in our hands, and a phenomenal trading chip at that. I'm predicting he could have a ZBo-esque spike in his career, and he seems like hes working towards it. Give him a season.

Wesley Johnson did nothing this season? Especially im comparison to the SG/SF the wolves had last season?

So, just for fun I wanted to see what the Jazz record was when Jefferson was the games leading scorer. The Jazz record for that was 6-9. These are the teams that the Jazz beat when Jefferson was the leading scorer, Toronto (2), Clippers, Indiana, Kings, Phily. The loses are as follows Suns (2), Nets, Dallas, Boston, Knicks, Chicago, OKC, SA.

I am not sure what to make of the information from this. He scored a lot against teams the Jazz should have beat. He scored a lot against teams the Jazz should have lost to. The 6-9 record makes me very concerned. Any other thoughts?

By the way, if someone could find the Jazz record when Jefferson was the teams leading scorer I think that would explain more than the Games leading scorer stats. If you could get them please post them.

Is that all he has to do to break the top 10?

I see where you going with that, but I still believe that there's not many guys in the NBA who are better down on the low block. In fact, I don't think it's really all that outlandish of a comment. If your going to judge him by his past team's overall records, be sure you include all of the factors. In Boston, he spent his first few seasons as a raw player right out of High School on Celtic teams that didn't have a ton of talent. Trading Al for KG and signing Ray Allen is what vaulted Boston to contender status. It's not as Al had the luxury of playing with all of those pieces while he was a Celtic.

Then he was traded to the abyss that is Minnesota. If you wonder why Big Al didn't single handedly carry Minny on his back to a .500 season or two, go back and look at the rosters he played with.

If Al were a 30 year old vet who was supposed to be a finished product, I'd have a much more different opinion of him. However, I believe he was still only 25 when the Jazz traded for him and in my opinion had yet to play his best basketball.

Definately a fair assessment - No arguement here
