Big Al's paint - The First Name in Old School Game

Big Al was ridiculous in the month of March. Playing in the East is much better for him. Teams play slower and their big men aren't as athletic. They just need better shooters and they could be a good team.

I'm slightly amazed at all the love both Al and Sap are getting for being a part of two playoff teams. Two playoff teams that have a sub .500 record in one of if not the weakest conference in NBA history. Good for them and their stats and all, but I find it hard to be impressed with a Bobcats team the Jazz swept this year.

Thank you for this post. Big Al is a stat stuffer. Glad he is gone. His teams will forever be mediocre.

The Bobcats have one of the worst shooting teams in the league, and Big Al still dominates. I know they are just barely getting in the playoffs, but they are still doing it at the end of the day.

At the end of the day Jefferdad is 29. His post proficiency though could keep him around the league for quite awhile though. Dudes putting up career numbers this year.
I see Big Owl retiring at age 42.

From Jazz fans at least, we're just recognizing that they were both good guys who deserve success even if we're happy they're gone. Nothing wrong with that.

in your face fooooooooooolks, Cakar told you :)

“I think everybody needs to question the Eastern Conference voting on why Al Jefferson wasn't on the All-Star team because clearly he is one of the best in the game. He showed it tonight and I have to give him credit."
Frank Vogel, Indiana Pacers head coach – March 5, 2014

“Al Jefferson … no one on the planet can guard him. We tried to double him, single, triple, there’s nothing we could’ve done with him tonight. He was in that type of zone, and that’s the way he’s been playing. It’s so surprising he didn’t make the All-Star team or even an MVP discussion. He’s one of the more underrated players in the game.”
Paul Pierce, Brooklyn Nets forward – March 26, 2014

“Al is Al, he can score. It’s difficult to explain how he’s doing it, because some of the shots he shoots are unorthodox. He’s got to be one of the toughest, if not the toughest guy to guard in the post. He’s very difficult to get any kind of read on him…He hurts you with his passing now, you have be careful when you send a double team. When he sees the guy coming, he’ll pick you apart.”
Doc Rivers, L.A. Clippers head coach – January 22, 2014

“He was great tonight and we just didn’t do a good job on him. When we double-teamed him he found people to pass out to or he reposted, and when we didn’t he shredded us. That’s the story.”
Rick Carlisle, Dallas Mavericks head coach – February 11, 2014

Al's pump fakes, which are maybe the best in the league. They're ridiculous. He’s still got that herky-jerky, unbelievably tough game to guard. He gets people off their feet constantly.”
Gregg Popovich, San Antonio Spurs head coach – February 8, 2014

“He's a bad matchup for the entire league right now. We knew exactly what we was going to do - they ran the same plays they always run - but there's not much you can do to stop him.''
John Loyer, Detroit Pistons head coach – February 19, 2014

"He is one of the best, If not the best player ever played in the NBA."
CAKAR, Jazzfans Most Wanted - April 4, 2014

I'm happy for Big Al, but I don't miss him at all. I did wish, however, that when we had him we had a coach who could hide his crappy defense like charlotte does.

Here are some really nice articles from Zach Lowe about Charlotte and their defense.

The first one is from December
https://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-facts-and-fiction-of-the-bobcatss-rising-defense/

and the second one is from a couple of weeks back
https://grantland.com/features/the-charlotte-construction-co-bobcats-hornets-rebuilding-nba/

I am really happy for Big Al and what he brought to Charlotte and I can't be any higher on coach Clifford and what he did with the Cats D.

And btw for all of the pessimists here with the right moves it is not impossible to be a good team again really fast!

- Charlotte had 21 wins last year and they already have 40 right now! +19
- Suns had 25 wins last year and they have 47 right now! +22
- Portland had 33 wins last year and they have 51 right now! +18
- Toronto had 34 wins last year and they have 46 right now! +12
- Washington had 29 wins last year and they have 40 right now! +11

The right draft pick ups, some good decisions from DL(most importantly the coach!!!), dedication and desire from our core to get better and work their asses off and I don't no why we shouldn't have a +10 improvement ourselves.

big al is the same lame duck player as last year and his defense sucks as much and his salary 13.5mln/season is a killer

the only difference is that the bobcats are pretty much happy to be a mediocre team right now and last season the jazz were tired of that crap
