Billy Joel is an *******

That Starship song sucks ***. Does anyone really like it?

Let’s talk about Nirvana. No offense to my favorite band in elementary school, but holy **** did they become overrated. Any time there’s a “greatest guitarists ever” list, somehow Cobain ends up on it. They had some great music and had a great impact, but damn. None of the lyrics ever made any sense, and any time that happens we pretend there’s a hidden genius in what we don’t understand.

Kurt was a decent songwriter, but a vastly overrated musician and singer. Grohl's pretty good, tho.

Without context Nirvana doesn't seem like that big a deal - but I can't overstate how much the mainstream rock scene sucked in the late 80's/early 90's - just watch the documentary "The Decline of Western Civilization, Part 2" and you'll see exactly what I mean. People were actually thankful something came along that didn't sound like a contrived mess.

As for the lyrics what can you say, I guess it resonated with the generation at the time - it's bound to sound silly to a lot of folks 25-30 years later.

I loved Nirvana in the mid 90s and it still sounded silly then. The thing that bothers me most isn’t that they aren’t good (I love them) but that everyone fueling the hype I’m not convinced really likes it as much as it’s just some kind of social requirement to say. It’s kind of like Andy Kaufman. I think that dude was into entertaining himself, with those he’s “entertaining” as being the ones that a joke is being played on. I think most people didn’t get it, but everyone laughed along because everyone else was laughing, and we something isn’t understood, the term ‘genius’ gets thrown around by those in the dark.

Nirvana’s an enigma to me, though, as I look back on them. Bleach had no commercial success, Nevermind exploded, who knows WTF Incesticide was, and In Utero was good and the end of it. It’s just so bizarre (not in a bad way) that they really had two albums and they had such an impact.

The nicest thing about music from the 90's on is that fad bands are short lived instead of being the label's favorite that gets all the best songs purchased for them for the next 10 years. Instead of "Billy Joel is a __________" it's "cranberries?".

Did anyone else hate anyone playing or singing The Cranberries as much as I did? "In your heh-ed in your heh-eh-eh-ed zah om bay zah om bay zahombay-ee-eyyy-eee-ohh-eeh-ahoheeeeeee" %$#%!

Might be my least favorite song of all time. Everyone at work knows that if that ****ing so g comes on then they better change it quick or i will loose my ****

Anyone try this?

Ace of base is probably my most hated group/band of all time.
