I don't know if the Jazz have the pieces to make a move, I don't know if the Blazers would hang up just because it's the Jazz, and I don't know if the Jazz should. However, I think it's worth a thought and a discussion.

Obviously, if you can get Roy healthy, the Jazz would then have the best backcourt in the NBA by a lightyear. But that's THE "if" of the whole discussion. On the other hand, if Roy becomes the next Penny Hardaway, the Jazz would look back at AK's contract with fondness. It would be crippling.

"THOUGHTS?"

We'd have the best backcourt ON PAPER.

Look how much better Portland plays with Roy out. He's done nothing but complain about touches since Miller came to town, and has professed that he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He's a selfish player. Wesley even alluded to his absence as a pro when he stated they recently had "the best practice of the season" without Roy, and they're playing like it too.

His knees are done and they won't get better. It's really tempting knowing what he's capable of, but I think those days are behind him. It's too bad.

The natural home for him is Phoenix given their medical staff and Nash's proven ability to play effectively with iso-heavy SGs (Joe Johnson).

Letting this leak is stupid though. Trading Roy now would be the ultimate "sell low" for Portland.

I'm not a Roy fanboy but you guys are selling him and his abilities rather short. He's had bad knees his whole career yet managed to do as well as he has for as long as he has.

If the Jazz traded for him, I would want them to sit Roy for the season and send him to the guy that resurrected Wade's career (Tim Grover, I believe). Portland should do something similar.

As far as my opinion is concerned, I'm not too hot on the idea either. It intrigues me greatly, though.

I don't want to sell him short. Young, bad knees are more appealing than old, bad knees. He was able to play 36 a night, every night three, two years ago. As of now, he's missing games as well as having his minutes reduced significantly. I think it's been around 24 MPG this year. He'd fit great with this team as a role player, but he's paid too much for that role and will miss several games a year.

I don't see a package that would make sense for both teams.

Jazz give them Millsap & Hayward? Jazz have a big hole at PF then. Portland already has Aldridge.
Jazz give DWill? No chance.
Jazz give Al Jefferson? I don't think they are ready to abandon that, besides that would make the Jazz's weaknesses (rebounding and size) even worse.

What package would make sense? I don't see one.

Yes, but, then is not now. Roy wasn't getting 5 minutes a game or scoring only 2 points a game earlier in his career with his bad knees. There's a reason he's not playing. Roy's knees are beyond repair.. it's not like they can go in there and do a microfracture surgery or two to repair them.

...look! The kid wanted too much money too soon. We have to show some fiscal responsibility here! Ya don''t want us to end up looking like the Knicks or some of these other slop dummy teams! We already have been burned with Boozer and Klinko! We don't want to end up paying 100,000 bucks a game for 8 points and 3 assists, do we?
