Booker Suspended 1 Game.

Allowing someone to punk you and walk over and push you is being a bitch. I would have preferred if Booker had pushed Hibbert then went after him without the slap. At that point Hibbert would have been seen as 100% at fault and all punishments would likely have gone his way. The bitch slap while deserved actually took the blame off of Hibbert. That said if I'm hot like Booker was, and some little bitch gets in my face he's getting punched, so I really can't blame Booker for the reaction.

Nothing wrong with toughing up a lil' bit. Let's just not make a habit out of it. I fear that Booker has the base to become a basketball court boxer. It will be fun to watch. Most people like to watch fights they are not in. But it won't help.

Hibbert should get a game too. He's who instigated it, you don't walk into a man's space like that and bump in the chest. That's asking for trouble right there.

Booker didn't get into any serious altercations during the regular season last year did he? All I remember was the near-fight with Griffin in the pre-season.

Does anyone here seriously expect Booker to lose it in the playoffs? I think he is much more measured than he is being given credit for.

Who knows. Perhaps he wanted to convince the league that he and the Jazz are not to be messed with, but the unintended consequence is that some fans assume he is a "reckless" angry dude.

I like both your posts, equally.

I'm shocked he only got one game, shocked. Like a lot of people I thought it would be 3+ for sure. I love Booker more and more each game.

I was shocked too. I really like the NBA under Adam Silver. I think they took Hibbert's bitchness into account. They don't want that fake tough guy stuff either I guess. He did walk all the way over to the court to chest Booker... as a man if another dude did that to me he is getting the closed fist on the jaw. Different circumstances I get it, but he showed some control by keeping the hand open... it was appropriate force to get the guy out of his face.

Assumptions are assumptions until they become facts.

NBA should in my mind suspend that fake tough guy for basically challenging Booker's manhood. There would've been no altercation had said fake laker tough guy doesn't walk ten feet to initiate contact in the first place.

I do feel the NBA should look at suspending the instigator who asks to be bitchslapped. It's one thing if Booker walks up to said player and hits him. It's another when an idiot player sticks his nose in someone else's fight and escalates it when the whole thing is over.

With that said the punishment for Booker is fair.

Yeah plus he instigated the whole situation, correct me if I'm wrong but in a normal court of law the person who initiated the contact is usually at fault most of the time.

You're right.

"Players and coaches will now be docked $2,000 for each of their first five technical fouls. The costs rise to $3,000 for the next five, followed by $4,000 for Nos. 11-15. Starting at 16, players are suspended one game for every two technicals, along with $5,000 for each" - per https://www.nba.com/2010/news/10/01/techs-fines.ap/index.html

Not to mention that Booker will have to sit that game without pay. ESPN said the suspension will cost Booker $43,000. I think Booker is the perfect Jazz player. Defends his team and teammates at all costs. Hopefully next time it won't result in a suspension though. We need him on the court.

If you don't need him, why pay him? Why consider as teammate?

This is a team game and every player affects others good or bad. If you think this boosts up chemistry and is needed for good chemistry, trying picking up fights all the time and we shall see if the chemistry stays.
Yeah, I think this has a well-earned reputation as being a positive side-effect after being qualified. And it's possible someone better than him needs minutes.

He doesn't take ****. He sticks up for his team, his teammates, and himself. Into it.

Every team needs a guy like this. They really didn't have one in the Corbin years and it showed (though Earl Watson was one, just too short of one to really instill fear).
