Boozer also trying to convince Bulls to pursue Wes Matthews

Matthews 5 years 28 million dollars is what the Jazz might have to pay to keep him. Is that over paying him, a little, but it's not drastic. I don't think the Jazz can afford to let him go if we are talking about over paying him by 1-2 million. We already know he fits the system, he works hard, he plays D and can shoot. We couldn't get a FA with his same talent to sign with us. We have to sign Matthews.

Really? 18 pts in a limited role is terrible?

You have to look at touches. Wes was clearly the 4th or 5th option when he assumed the starting role. He still averaged 9.4 pts in 25 mins. I look more at his 48% FG and 38% 3-PT and 87% FT's. I GLADLY take that from the Jazz' SG, especially a ROOKIE thrust into a starting role.

I guess if you believe he's reached his ceiling. I mean no one ever improves on their rookie numbers and it's much more likely he plays worse as he gets more experience.

True, you can knock him on his size: 6'4"-6'5." I doubt he'll ever be a Ray Allen or a Joe Johnson. But then again we're talking maybe $5M/per at the high end, not $20M.

Every Wes thread is impossible because everyone likes Wes. I do, too. Yeah, his scoring was very solid per/48. But blocks/steals/assists/rebounds? All at 10th from the bottom of "listed" guys. The question then becomes how much, or where will Wes improve? He's not going to improve his athleticism which is in the lower 50th percentile by NBA standards to be kind. He's not going to improve his length. Even if Wes was 6'5", he's got short arms, and anybody can shoot over him with ease. We love his tenacity, but he can't guard the big wings--we saw that over and over. Thus, he can't possibly develop into a Bowen or Battier despite how hard he plays.

I understand we disagree, but Wes' ceiling is not high. It's low. You don't overpay for that.

5 @ 28 would be a drastic overpayment for Wes' services.

Korver and ReDICK will be getting 12 minutes a game.

Not sure why the Bulls would grab both of these guys. Oh well.

2 less white guys the pacers and jazz can sign!

NO 4. 3 and something we can talk about. A 4 year deal for a 1st year player? That's insanity.

I don't think he has a whole lot of upside but at 4 and 12-13 he's not going to regress that much in that many years. He could be a steal of a contract in 4 years (I doubt it) but I don't think he would just become completely unproductive. I would be willing with the 4th year because of that. I would prefer 3 and 9 obviously.

Fair. But their should not be a 4 year deal for Matthews. He's way too unproven to go 4 years. I can see agreeing to it, but honestly I would not go 4 for 12 myself.

Not that I care, but how did I get baited in this? You said 5 @ 28. That's at the upper end of the MLE. Honz said Tyrus money. I said seeya Matthews. Where did I come out off in all this?

i was just pointing out that you didn't know he was messing with ya.
