Boris Diaw Traded To Jazz (news, not just proposed trade)

From a SA website.

"Boris was a fan-favorite with his laid back style, locker room espresso machine and his craftiness around the rim for a big guy. However, there were reports he and coach Popovich were on the outs and in particular, Pop did not play him at all in Game 6 versus the Thunder in last season's semifinal match-up and the fact Pop had issues with Diaw's weight."

I wouldn't be surprised if they got him given DL's love of all things SA. I been saying for weeks, watch him sign Matt Bonner...just because. I wouldn't be a fan of Diaw. Poor fit next to Lyles. We need a natural 5.

We have a "natural 5" named Withey. Pretty good rim protector, can score inside. Apparently he's not what Quin wants because he hardly played, even when Jazz had injuries.

And why does Diaw have to "fit" beside Lyles? Rarely does a team play all their subs at once, Stagger substitutions and 2-3 starters should always be on the floor. Diaw could replace Gobert while Favors is still on the floor. It's a possibility. I just want to see the minutes drop for Rudy and Derrick to 30 or less. They need to stay healthy.

Not concerned about the weight. Rudy will have him playing with fire. But the espresso machine probably kills the deal. Millers can't have a heathen influence on their team.

Gobert, Favors, and Withey all play 5. Diaw gives us more flexibility than adding another C. I hate to break it to you, but this is obvious.

Withey is a natural 5, just not very good. It's why he didn't see the floor. Which is why we need an upgrade. Also if we pick up Diaw it means either Withey or Pleiss are likely gone given the current roster. I understand we will not have all the backups in at once, but what happens when Favors or Gobert is out for a game or two and the other needs a rest? Diaw + Lyles will be a disaster. If we want that small ball lineup we can just put Lyles at 5 with Hayward, Ingles, JJ at 4.

I realize he was a rookie, but Lyles at the 5 last year was a disaster. Withey hardly played, even when Favors or Gobert was out. Now you're asking what would happen if he's not on the roster and Favs or Rudy is out?
And you still didn't answer my ?. Why does Quin have to play all the subs at once? Gobert or Favs comes out at the 7/8 min mark and is replaced Diaw.
I'm not saying Diaw is the greatest. But please suggest one of these "natural 5's" Utah can get on a reasonable 2yr deal.

They sign Durant and we give them a 2nd pick just for ***** and giggles?

I know what you meant, just giving you a hard time for the typo.

Read it again and think about the picks we own.

Edit: apparently you edited this right as I quoted.

Presuming Jazz are interested in Diaw (I think a pretty good chance), the question to be asking now is whether Diaw is interested in the Jazz. Reports I've seen say that SA is trying to trade him to one of his preferred teams.

Hoopshype says there are about 5 teams but makes no mention of who those teams are.

Let's get it done. I've started a petition on change.org. Search for it by using the term "Diaw."

meh. I thought we let Booker go to give more time to Lyles. If we add Diaw, then Lyles will get no more playing time than he had last year, because I just don't see Diaw being happy as the 4th big.

What do you mean, Withey hardly played. He started and logged 30 + minutes when Rudy was injured and played far better than just acceptable. I was disappointed he didn't get more minutes when Rudy came back.

I answered your question lol. I said I understand we won't be playing all the backups at once. But what happens if we trade for Diaw and either Rudy or Favors gets hurt. You can't play the healthy one all game. Which leads to Lyles and Diaw inevitably being on the court at the same time. Which would not end well. If we get Diaw it's inevitable that either Withey or Pleiss is gone. And the other one isn't likely to be in the rotation. It just doesn't make sense imo when we have so many possible small ball lineups already. We need a true 5 because the team sucked when Rudy was out. As for suggestions, Hibbert just went on a 1 year 5 million dollar deal and Pachulia for 1/2.9, it's not like they are going for a lot at the moment.

If he joined the squad, wouldn't he already be the 1st big?

Disagree. Lyles is getting more minutes no matter what. We let Booker go because we wanted our fourth big to be a better shooter.

Diaw is 33 years old and averaged 18 mpg last year. He and west had same minutes as the 3rd/4th big.

If they suck on the floor together, that ties Quin's hands on line-ups. If favors gets hurt and you now have 3 rotational bigs, and if two of whom are terrible on the floor together, I'm sure you see how this might be problematic. I'm sure you've hear "versatility" from QS and DL a few billion times.
