Boris Diaw Traded To Jazz (news, not just proposed trade)

I think DL locks up Gobert this summer. Hayward will be the big fish next year.
Agreed, but I could also see a situation like how Kawhi waited with the Spurs so they could go get LMA in free agency. If everybody knows that a 5 year max is on the way, they might plan for something like that. Contrary to popular belief, I think DL wants to win a championship (or two) and is willing to make a big move to get there. He just needs to position himself to do so, and I think these moves suggest (at least to me) that he wants the team to be good enough to attract great players, but financially capable of pulling it off. Everything they've done still screams summer of 2017 to me. Just don't want the Jazz to be the Rockets, Mavericks, Lakers or Thunder and get hurt because they mis-judged the market and/or their player.

Also, read somewhere that when it became clear Pau was an option and they needed to move Diaw that he had a list of 5 teams he wanted to go to and they were willing to try to accommodate that. Looks like the Jazz were on that list. More evidence that players are starting to look at Utah as a good option.

If Diaw's weight is in check than this is a great move. Hell even if he's serviceable for 10-12 minutes a game its a steal. Hanlan wasn't cracking our roster this season and we really didn't give up anything else. What we got in return however is another solid veteran with Finals experience that can do what we all hoped, help mentor and steady this team to take the next step or two.

The funny thing to me is every year we have the group of fans who hate on the Jazz for never making any moves. This year, we have a draft day trade, a free agent signing of an actual "name" player, and another trade to bolster the bench. What do the Jazz get in return, more complaints.

We can't sign every person in the world without giving up huge parts of our core. What we've done this year is strengthen every aspect of this team for very little and did it all without disrupting our core. How is that not a win?

Diaw and Rudy already talking on Twitter... Sounds like they are excited.

Jazz have nice two-way players in the starting lineup. Defense should be top-5. Now their bench scoring won't go to **** like last year. Jazz will space the floor and move the ball. This will give Hayward more space than he's ever had to attack the seams.

Good move loading up to maximize chances that Gordon stays after a promising playoff run. 2nd round preferably

I think with the offseason moves, the Jazz should compete with Memphis, Portland and possibly the Clippers for homecourt in the POs.

Does Diaw's french connection make both him and Gobert happier? Always good to have a countryman.

This is the key. Win now, re-sign Hayward and fine tune for the Finals push.

I think the Diaw trade has two goals. A mentor for Lyles, and getting Rudy to sign for a little less than the max. Sneaky DL.

conference finals push. let's be realistic about these warriors. the worst thing is once the warriors are over the wolves will start their peak
