He was drafted in the same draft as Luke Walton, Mo Williams and Kyle Korver.
I remember watching him at the old RMR and thinking "this guy is the worst player I've ever seen at this league". He must've been just having a bad game or something.

Good move loading up to maximize chances that Gordon stays after a promising playoff run. 2nd round preferably
I think the Diaw trade has two goals. A mentor for Lyles, and getting Rudy to sign for a little less than the max. Sneaky DL.
Does Diaw's french connection make both him and Gobert happier? Always good to have a countryman.

It's interesting that the Jazz have done that. Was it accidental or by design?
Exum -> has Ingles as friend
Gobert -> has Diaw as friend
going farther...
Hayward -> has Hill as friend (I think I read that they were friends, right?)
maybe next step is to sign someone that's good friends with Favors.
On the other hand, Diaw himself has just one goal: How can I keep this money train on the tracks for as many more seasons as possible?

Rudy isnt taking less money because Diaw is with him. We got him because we have cap room and he is a far better player than Joel Bolomboy.
conference finals push. let's be realistic about these warriors. the worst thing is once the warriors are over the wolves will start their peak
And next year it's non-guaranteed. So, they can move him for an asset to a team that needs cap space, cut him to create their own space, trade him for a replacement asset if he can get them anything or keep him if he fits well with the team. Jazz needed to upgrade Booker. This feels like that to me.
Diaw can't be that unmotivated
He lasted five year with Spurs
Pops gets rid of players quickly if they don't perform
I'm not doing handstands over this move. Diaw is a guy who was unmotivated by Gregg Popovich and was unmotivated by being on a great team. He was constantly out of shape and was repeatedly benched. What kind of influence is that for a young team? I am also not a fan of the fit. The Diaw trade means that we've likely seen the end of either Withey or Pleiss in a Jazz uniform, and whichever one stays won't be in the rotation. That leaves Rudy as the only true center on the roster again and we witnessed how bad the team struggled when Rudy got hurt last year and we were stuck with undersized players at the 4 and 5 for the bulk of the game.
The plus side is that we didn't give up much in this deal, but an unmotivated player who's constantly overweight doesn't excite me.
