We squabble over many relatively unimportant issues on this website, but i'll tell you what, I'd gladly give up the entire bill of rights if the only guarantee I was given was that our police force would not become a roaming execution squad.
don't roll over so easily.
"He deserves to be killed" actually depends on facts which might require a very good defense lawyer to obtain from an obviously adversarial prosecutory establishment of police and state-paid lawyers. The right to a trial is being ignored here. It's not about convenience or even safety for our cops. It's about the right to a trial.
you're being a pansy of a libertarian, bro.
now, if the dude is located and contained. . . and makes a rush towards the officers with any threatening appearance, he's giving up his right to a trial. Shoot him then.
If he won't unload every observable form of possible danger to the cops..... even throw off his clothes to show no possible bomb or bomb detonating device. . . . keep him covered with many guns until he complies.
But the cops are not judges or juries, and have no constitutional power to execute even the vilest offenders. And if Congress pretends to pass laws to the effect of conferring such perogatives on the cops or any federal agents, or even a President, I say it is bogus and unlawful, and a threat to the citizens, and an outright breach of the oath of office in regards to upholding and protecting and defending the Constitution. Elected representatives who will do this must lose their credentials in that instant, and are no longer "our" constitutional government.
Well, we have moved a long way from the actual constitution already. What Libertarians, Conservative Republicans, and even decent Democrats must do is raise our elected officials awareness of our intolerance about these things, and how we intend to vote them out of office at the next possible election. Or initiate recall proceedings, and impeachment proceedings until the remaining government officials get the message.
No guns or any civil violence is actually needed. . . . all we have to do is get this message out and resounding off every ear.
Part of the program must be a determined dialogue with "progressives" and other political agenda pushers who for any reason seem unwilling to get this point just as well.
