How is it humanly possible to not know what was going on? Outside of being in a coma or living off the fat of the land in the hills, I can't think of any possible scenario in which this couple didn't know what was going on. In short, your story doesn't pass the smell test; you're full of ****.

This line of thinking really bugs the piss out of me. Nobody deserves to die. What he does deserve, however, is a fair trial with a judge and a jury of his peers.
