Boston vs Utah for Hayward

Yes, it made Hayward understand it's just a business. It took out the loyalty aspect for him. Maybe I am overstating it, but it something Locke says he still thinks bothers Hayward.

It was just a terrible job by Dennis Lindsey. It was stupid to try and play hardball with the team's best player over a few million dollars more a year, especially in hindsight with how far under the cap we have been for the 3 years since he got the deal. Even if Hayward re-signs, it still a mishandled deal that will hurt the Jazz this year in free agency (unless Hayward makes all-nba team and opts back into his deal).

true but in the context of the time it's not like he killed it that year. Was no certainty that he was a max player.

He was not that good that year. He just wasn't. One would hope he would remember that, but he probably also remembers that the Jazz stuck with Corbin for way too ****ing long.

The one thing going for the Jazz right now is that Boston has poor interior defense and weak rebounding. They can't win with that.

Yeah. Boston is basically the Utah of offense. They play an elite brand of offensive basketball and they play solid D, but they have a lot of weaknesses on that end that come from their strengths on offense (playing IT, Horford playing on the perimeter so much negating his rebounding).

And basically Gobert. Gobert is better than anyone on Boston, and potentially even better than anyone Boston can acquire (George or Butler). Gobert is the key to keeping Hayward in Utah. Which, if you are looking for a reason for optimism (since what I've posted today may have people thinking doom and gloom) it's that Utah has Gobert and Boston doesn't. No one on Boston or Boston is rumored to get is competing for 1st Team All-NBA.

Celtics getting outrebounded 27-13 so far. Cavs up by 25.

Tristan Thompson destroying them with 7 days rest is probably something everyone should have seen coming. I was surprised Washington wasn't able to take advantage of that weakness. I guess I didnt realize how Gortat has regressed.

TT is my best case for Bam Adebayo. I think if he accepts that role he could be a great player.

Danny Ainge: "Yeah hi Gordon, you know we love you. Brad's waiving. He's here in my office. We just need you to guard Lebron and get us 11 or 12 boards a night. You okay with that?"

There should be a rule instated where if a team signs another team's free agent above a certain dollar amount (near the max), that the team losing a player gets a pick somehow. It's just so dicked that a team could spend seven+ years building something and then just have it destroyed because a player walks. Specific to the cap spike happening now, franchises are getting decimated because of the ability for a select few franchises being able to create super-teams in previously unfathomable ways.

Yeah, they had that a long time ago. We sign all star Gail Goodrich from the Lakers, we are obligated to give them a pick. Turns out to be Magic Johnson. The Jazz were once the new Jersey Nets.

Bam was a poor rebounder in college though. I don't think he can average 10 per36 like TT has done every single year.

It's all about effort and focus. He has every other tool to excel in that role. I dont think TT is a remarkably high IQ player or anything, I think just think he goes all out all the time and can switch out on anyone.

Bam's rebounds are okay -- 10.6 per 40 min, 8 rpg. I wouldn't worry about that. I worry about how much his game can develop vs. being a finished product.

Al Horford is averaging around 16/7 in these playoffs, which is nice, but he's not really a max player. He's on Boston's books for 4 years and he's already 30. That's not a good contract for Boston.

He is a max player for sure. The dude is really great and makes everyone on his team better. He isn't perfect, but I would say he is a top 50 player in the NBA. Probably have to give him top 30 after this post-season. The guy has carried Boston. Just saying 16/7 is way underselling it. The dude is also dropping 6 assist and shooting 60% from 3.
