That will win a LOT of games. Chris Paul's career average is 1 turnover about every 14 minutes. Stockton's was every 11 minutes. If I recall correctly, the last time he was turned over in the Phoenix game, he went back and took the ball back from Bledsoe. Took that stuff personally. Is there any reason not to believe that with more experience and better teammates that his turnover ratio won't improve? Just amazing. Glad we have him for the long term.

Taking care of the ball is taking care of the ball. Paul and Stockton's averages didn't fluctuate too much from their rookie seasons. We are talking a minute either way. At the end of his rookie campaign, we will see pretty much where Trey will be for his career. The question is, are Trey's first few games more representative of his turnover ratio than his last three? Because in his last three games, where he is finally playing big boy starter minutes, Trey has 1 turnover. Remove the Bulls game where he had 5 turnovers, and Trey is averaging a turnover every 36 minutes. It would seem to me that the Bulls game is more of a statistical outlier than the rest of the time he has played.

Rookie Season

He hasn't even played enough games to accurately determine how those numbers will look for the season, let alone for his career.

It ain't a bad sign,though.

Deron Williams every 11 minutes
Derrick Rose every 12 minutes
Steve Nash every 11 minutes
Damon Lillard every 14 minutes.

And the fly in the ointment,
John Lucas III every 24 minutes
Really thought I was on to something there. . .

Ya but JL3 doesnt pass or score, so it doesn't really matter.

You're saying he'll have the fewest turnovers rate in the history of point guards, and you're basing it on the fact he didn't commit any turnovers the past two games. Stop being dumb.

No he will be behind JL3 at the very least apparently. . . Also these aren't just any stretch of games. These are his first games for an almost historically bad Jazz team. Generally it takes a bit to get acclimatized to the speed of the game. I find it hard to believe he will get worse on average as the season progresses. Also 1 turnover past three games and 2 of those were against Phoenix which is very good at turning over their opponents and scoring in transition. I am amazed because nobody thought that Burke's handles were this good. That, along with his rebounding, makes me wonder if he might end up to be A LOT more than we gave him credit for. . .

thanks for pointing that out. I will be interested to see how he does with not turning the ball over for the rest of the season.

He is looking great. Let's see how it goes after the league starts to adjust to him. I think he will do fine but its early.

All the people calling bust in summer league tsk tsk

I've been really really impressed by Burke's handles. His handling going into his midrange is CP3-esque, although he doesn't have the craftiness that CP3 uses to get into lane so he's more limited in that respect. Almost always under control, smart passes. Especially impressive given the dearth of talent on the team - would expect turnovers from passes just going through a bunch of players' hands.
