Any free agent PGs open this season? I think anything we get could be an upgrade at this point.

Well, Burke is bad but he does help win a game from time to time. He had many games like that. A Jameer Nelson type of player.

I don't remember one game from Exum. I still can't understand how overrated this guy is on this board. It is beyond being funny, it is sad.

Only thing to mention here is, that he is 19 but that's all. But all "talented" players in early years showed some greatness. Exum has not one single greatness. Shooting is bad, rebounding is bad, doesn't make plays, no assists, no attacking the rim, did I said he can't shoot, like 3 pointers? and gets minutes and minutes. Yes, his defense is decent but he is young, he hustles a lot. Later his hustle will be much less and then you will have a poor poor poor man's Shane Battier and I love Shane Battier. But he is not even close being such a defensive oriented guard, nor does he has any kind of offensive skills.

Jazz needs 2 players for those positions after this season is over, so these 2 guys can come from the bench.

Exum is 19, Burke was college player of the year and already has 1 year of playing under his belt. That and Exum is a hell of a lot better of a defensive player than Burke is. So... yeah how about you come back to me with how many shot attempts they both have shot and then the percentages. Burke is a joke, at least Exum is young enough to grow into a better shooter WITH a good defensive mind.

I agree that almost any PG in the league would be better than these two. What is it with the JAzz? First we have the worst PG duo in the history of the league with JLIII and Tinsley and now we have the Brick Brothers in Burke and Exum.

But I do agree with Kyoto. I've given up on Trey. He's had two years of college and nearly two years in the NBA. More disturbing than the shooting percentage is his ball-hogging. Whether as a starter or a sub, he just takes WAY too many shots and doesn't distribute. Having nearly the worst percentage and taking the 2nd-most shots on the team is the definition of inefficiency. His low TO total is a result of him never trying to make a pass. But in my book, a missed shot counts as a T/O. And the passes ARE there to make.

AS for Dante, he'd be the equivalent of a college freshman right now. WE knew he was raw. I think the worst thing that has happened in terms of expectations was to make him a starter. He should be barely getting game minutes. The team REALLY needs a quality PG. Or it could be a combo guard since we have Hayward, Burks and Hood who can all initiate. Exum's defense is good, but he simply doesn't give Utah enough offense to be a net positive on the court. He could still start next season, but be the first one out and get 18-20/per game...unless he really improves.

How do you want to find a player, who is able to score consistently playing with a fronctourt of Gobert and Favors ? No guard will be able to put down all-star numbers and even Hayward and Favors scoring is getting worse game after game... You defensive fetishists screwed up AL, Millsap, Kanter, Mo and everyone who played some offense because they were not playing defense. Now we have almost no player who can score the damn ball, to win a game... Almost all these guys are in the play-offs right now and some of them are contending for an NBA title...

The crazy thing about Exum's poor shooting percentages is that he is only taking the best possible shots. He only shoots when he's wide open or lay ups.

Why is anyone in this thread posting on a Jazz board?

And CAKAR, why aren't you now posting on OKC's board, as you are obviously way more of a Kanter fan than a Jazz fan?

Most of the arguments here about Dante vs Burke are old and tired. They are who we have, we aren't wrapping anyone up right now to replace them, so the play.

Exum plays very solid D. Not "for a rookie" or "for a crappy player" but he is among the top 15 (maybe top 10) defensive guards in the league. At 19 for hells sake. How in the hell would less minutes help him in any way?

Exum deserves to play over Burke for that reason alone. In the end they are who we have, and it isn't changing anytime soon.

When it comes to the defense, its obvious you kinda don't know what your talking about.

Why are people here so quick to want to throw players under the bus before the have even finished their rookie or 2nd year.. Yes there are a lot of worrying signs out of Burke and Exum.. However Burke is showing signs of improvement.. and Exum needs more time to develop and figure out the game.

The whole argument about the team being young is there for a reason. And that is there is still time for players to iron out the kinks. Both Gordon and Derrick looked shaky in their first 3-4 years.. They are a lot more solid and reliable now. Maybe it's time to have some faith in the development staff.

Heaven forbid Kanter criticize our PG situation...

;)

This situation seriously needs to be addressed. I'd hate to burn yet another lotto pick on it. But Grant from ND must be very tempting...
