Burke starts day 1

The breadcrumbs on the trail that lead me to believe this are:

1. The Jazz seem to not be very serious about bringing in a grizzled vet
2. A rookie of the year chase will sell tickets in a down season. Bringing in Malone shows the Jazz are going to adopt a little more flash in order to make up for their woeful record. Also, national pub.
3. All of the starters are going to be a bit green, so adjusting to a rookie point won't be too terrible.
4. The Jazz offense isn't as complicated as it was under Sloan. Hell, I'm not even sure that there IS a Jazz offense. This is why Sloan is coming back in some role.
5. He's probably as ready a point guard on day one as we have ever had. Deron was kind of comboish, and Stockton played with rec league talent guys in college. Burkes played the defined point on a near championship squad.
6. There aren't any big holes in his game
7. There will be plenty of D to back him up when his man gets by him, unlike this year.
8. Because I really want this to happen, and I deserve it.

That is all.

I hope he starts because then if he sucks donkey ball we could still draft Marcus Smart if we have the 3rd or 4th pick in the draft.

If the Jazz sign Mayo, Burke starting is a cast iron guarantee. It is far better to have the man he is running with on the court be the one to take pressure off of him, rather than the guy he alternates with. Mayo gives Burke a nice second option when the pick and roll isn't hitting (it will take time to get this right), as he seems to like set plays off screens, ala Hornecek. Burks is a year or two away from this. The Jazz will sign Mayo BECAUSE they want to start Burke.

I would love for Trey to start from day 1. I just don't see it happening.
We will bring in some vet better than Tinsley, and he will start day 1.

You kept hearing Ty preach patience at the press conference. They have it made up in their minds that rookies
have to go through some ritual before they are allowed to start. There is no learning on the job.
Remember when Deron scored 16 pts against Dallas in his first NBA game? Yeah he still wasn't "ready" to lead
over Milt, or Keith Mcbraid.

They have only ever coached to make the playoffs so this whole developing thing is still foreign to them.

I prey to the heavens that they finally change their ways, but I will only believe it when I see it.

willl believe it when i see it.

dont forget haywards minutes decreased.

also dont forget milt felacio en jason hart started over deron williams.

so if watson or tinsley resigned they will start over burke

I actually think Trey Burke should be given the opportunity to start and prove himself. He should also be given some rope to try and succeed in it as well.

Why?

Don't forget what happened to Lillard, what happened to Lin, what happened to Westbrook .. they were both given the opportunity and they ran with it and became successful.

We need to stop this coddling of our young guys and let them play. Let's see what you've got. Worst comes to worst, we'll know EXACTLY the limits of their potential and what they need to work on next Summer.

I think that a comparable situation is what is happening in the NFL. Most teams are starting rookie QBs from day 1. I believe that for the most part, if they have the ability they should be able to succeed anyway. We are in a so-called rebuilding phase, anyway, so there will be some rough patches along the way. Look at the Thunder, for example. A lot of their success is due to giving their young players playing time.

not in jazzland

listen what lindsey said on press conference about the rookies at 22:10 "we can't skip any steps and we'll add some veteran leadership"
