Burks Getting Trade Attention

Teams are looking for a backup wing. Burks is a great backup wing if you run isolation. He can get to the rim, there's no doubt about that. I fear he doesn't quite fit here even though I think he's great.

The article I saw suggested the jazz would be happy to get a 1st round pick for him. What if we did Burks for a 1st round pick and we sent that pick to Chicago for mirotic? That may just do it.

If you do that then I could easily consider Favors, Johnson, as expiring contracts just being allowed to expire unless we can get another 1st rounder for them.
I would be absolutely astonished if anyone would give up a 1st for Burks.

Maybe, just maybe, the leash is different because the talent level is different.

I don't know that I'd say the leash is different because talent level is different (though talent level certainly is different). I think it's more about mental makeup and maturity (not to imply Burks is flawed mentally or immature, but just that Mitchell is an extreme outlier).

I say send AB to the DLeague and have every play run for him and his trade value will be out of this world.
I think out of this world is right. Here in the real world, people don't make trades based on D-League stuff.

There are plenty of immature super stars in the league. LeBron said it when he said it is about opportunities. Mitchell gets them. Burks didn't because they were all given to Hayward when Burks was healthy. I remember the first couple of game that Burks got the ball he was averaging 20 points a game going to the free throw line gouging defenses. Now he is selfish and immature. Funny how opportunities can or lack of can create a stigma for a player.

I find your ability to find discontent fairly remarkable. Do you remember Hood being better than Hayward? Now DL hits a grand slam in the draft (the entire league is talking about it) and now we've got Mitchell = Burks.

I never said we have to equate the two. But, if you can't find the hypocrisy then you have polished the past as well as the present. Look at Lyles or Kanter other pieces of the youth movement that got marginalized that are contributing on new teams. Hood has had opportunities where others haven't we can't really say we develop players. We develop some players while others we squander their talents.

I'm not an Alec Burks hater, but he is not in the same conversation as Mitchell in terms of talent, potential or anything. Here is the comparison used in the article I just shared in the "Would You Trade" thread:

The Jazz have also been linked to talks regarding often-injured guard Alec Burks, who has one more year on his deal after this season and has become somewhat expendable with the emergence and dominance of rookie Donovan Mitchell.

I think he isn't a player that Coach Q trusts nor respects, so lets get a player that he trusts and respects...

How can no one see that Mitchell and Burks game are similar. The leash is the difference if Mitchell was getting Burks treatment he wouldn't be the star he is becoming and visa versa.

Similar is a far cry from the same. Mitchell has shown more actual talent in 40 Games than Burks has shown at any time in the NBA.

Especially considering Burks' biggest flaw is one of Mitchell's strengths. Defensively Mitchell is far better than Burks.

I really don't see many area's that Burks is even comparable to Mitchell. Mitchell is what we all hoped Burks would become, but he didn't and now Mitchell is better in almost every way. And it's not the leash that is different. Mitchell is simply already a better player than Burks.

Yes, Mitchell is a better version of Burks. But, Burks can still get to the hoop, draw a foul, or make an athletic play unlike any other player on the team minus Mitchell. Why would we want a Mitchell type backing him up? Plus, our real win streak happened with Burks playing a big role.

Because Burks is not really like Mitchell. Burks is a poor passer and Defender and poor at finishing near the rim. I could go on, but Burks is just not that close to Mitchell and his flaws make him not much like Mitchell.

Yeah but other than that they’re pretty much the same, right?
