Sounds like from the Trib article that we've seen the last of Sap. I guess the writing was on the wall when the Jazz and him did not extend this past year. I suspect he is going to want AK like wages and will sign somewhere for MLE and Portland will try and hose us if we tender an offer.

link or it didnt happen. also, the jazz offered him the max extension they could this year. He turned it down because he will get more money on the market than that. No way he settles for MLE.

I sure hope not. This link just states the obvious.

According to the NBAs website he is 50th in points per game and 36th in rebounds per game. To me this spells journeyman (although a good one) and will the Jazz or anyone else put out max money? All you GMs out there what say you?

Like others have said, link? Are you referring to the Luhm article linked by bliner? If so, what makes it sound like he's gone?

Before practice on Thursday morning, Millsap told reporters he had not considered the possibility.

When asked about it, however, he said, "It’s been a long road — a long time being here. I’ve seen a lot and met some great people. Everybody I met has been a part of my growth and me getting better as a player and a person. So I owe a lot to this community and this organization."

Ummm... yeah, he sure sounds like he's already packed his bags.

Huh? The Jazz offered him the biggest deal they could and many then thought it was not what his real market value was. Not a huge surprise he turned it down. So, I don't really agree that the writing was on the wall.

I wonder if he'd sign somewhere else if money offered by the Jazz is the same as from a second team. I don't think the Jazz will be the highest bidder for him this summer considering our young bigs and the type of money the Jazz might have to pay out over the next few years for young guy extensions. I guess we'll have to see. I am very intrigued to see what he and Al get offered by other teams though.

Sap is very good, but not great. If the season were shorter it would help his value but he gets worn down every year. His only place on the Jazz is behind Kanter and Favors - so 6th man or there isn't room for him here. Sad. He's cool. What team needs him as their starter? Again, he's good but he's not gonna get you over the top.

But he started a web page, and a twitter account this year, and he started giving stuff away to fans. I thought it was because he loves us and wants to stay.

And he was totaly professional about the possibility of coming off the bench, and was supportive when Favors finished games instead of him.

Last I checked, there are 30 teams in the NBA. Each of these teams generally starts two bigs. Is the math really that difficult? Sap isn't an all-star, but he's a solid starter.

This. He is pretty good. I think they would re sign him for about ten mil per. Four years and we have ourselves a darn good three big rotation with sap favors and kanter. Throw Jeremy in there and we are ok.

As others have pointed out, the max the Jazz could offer per the CBA is way below Sap's market value, which is why he turned them down. What is more relevant is they made this offer to Sap, but not to Jefferson, which appears to be the Jazz's way of letting them know who is in their future plans, and who isn't.

I really like Sap, but he will be overpaid on his next contract. For those that want to keep him, think of it this way:

Favors will probably get around 4 years 40-50 million.

Do you think Sap is worth Favors money, or even more than Favors?

No way.

Now, think of this as well. This year Sap averages 15 and 7 in 31 mins a night. You could probably sign Landry, who has produced 10 and 6 in 23 mins a night for less than HALF of what Sap will make.

Who would you rather have? Landry at 6 million per, or Sap at 12-14 million per (and you might get Landry for less than that)?

That being said, I have said this all year.

Sap will be back, and for around the same money that he is making this year.

All of this (even if it is sarcastic). The Millsap we all fell in love with is gone.

Landry, yes.

Well, that was a dumb article. Where's the 'Al may be playing his last game' article? And the Mo article? And the Watson, Tinsley, Carroll, Foye, and Jerel McNeal articles? Because the only basis for the article other than opinion is the fact that his contract is up. He's as likely to be re-singed as any of these other players depending on what the Jazz's team needs after the draft and the teams financial position.

Dumb article.

Jazz should have traded for him before the deadline. Trade Millsap and Mar Williams for a point guard, bring Kanter in as a PF, move Mo Will up to SG, and bring in a true PG. We wouldn't be fighting for an 8th seed right now, we would be doing much better.
