BYU Football 2012

Michigan and also Virginia I think scheduled.

Love it. Washington State gets caught up in the Pac 12 myopia and runs from playing BYU, so Virginia comes in and fills the gap. Beautiful. Upgrade. And one of our "bad" teams on the schedule this year is San Jose State coming up this week at 8-2. The problem with peoples analysis is their assumptions about any weak spots on future schedules on who is going to be good or bad one year or the next rarely holds. You're likely to play more garbage teams in the course of a conference schedule(any conference - half the SEC is trash) than the Notre Dame model that BYU is trying to emulate.

With a playoff becoming closer to reality as time goes on and the money toward doing so grows, BYU's Independence decision is looking solid.

I didn't watch it. I've got a life rule, if your team sucks to watch and something better socially comes up during gametime instead, you take it. No reason to be miserable for 3 1/2 hours. But it sounds like same old, same old, happened.

BYU football fans are kind of in the same position as Jazz fans right now. Jazz fans are waiting for contracts to run out and possible coaching changes to take the next step, BYU football fans are waiting for a certain QB to graduate and for coaching changes. Both are kind of middle of the road teams with good upside if thy "management" can make a few ballsy moves to rid the staleness out.

It's going to be a long off season too because BYU basketball looked terrible in the tourney they played in in New York City this weekend. Looks like they have 2 basketball players and a bunch of guys you had to convince to play the sport because they are tall. There's going to be lots of time for negativity in BYU land.

Damn, I hope some of y'all are just playin dumb about the whole getting money to play one off road games thing. If not, ROFL.

So Bronco gets a pass in your book?

No.

But I don't necessarily want him fired. He at least calls the defense good enough.

The offensive side? I'd be down with gutting the whole side of it. Too many young coaches with no experience but who were hired cuz they were part of the fan club (Doman, Hall, Cahoon, etc)/bad coaches who need to go (Webber). The only guy I might think about keeping is Reynolds... As long as he still has a passion for coaching...

How's that bowl streak going?

It ended at nine. A good run but this year definitely fell short. This is what may happen now that they're playing in a good conference. Growing pains. They just need to keep non-conference patsies on the schedule like Northern Colorado and BYU to help pad win totals.

Maryland and Rutgers headed to the Big Ten...

byu waiting anxiously by the phone for a call from the Big East...

Souces indicate it's a race between the cougs and Northern Iowa for the final spot.

Hall is actually intriguing to me. He is sort of the anti-Doman and apparently called most of his plays his Sr. year. He is fiery and has nuts. I think I would hang on to him if I were BYU. He's not really anything right now besides a GA anyway, so just let him be the official QB coach or whatever so he can make some money and be content while you evaluate him as a coach further. And I think Cahoon is fine. The WRs block well. Ross Apo is open deep all day. Falselv is always open in the middle. Hoffman should get the ball regardless of whether he is open or not. With a decent QB, we might be able to get a better gauge on his coaching abilities.

Doman and the O-Line coach are probably the guys you want to get rid of. And if they do take a risk and let Bronco walk, they should bring somebody with football friends. One of the biggest problems with Bronco is that he didn't have many coaching connections(did he even bring in one guy that he knew previously?) and that's why you have a muddled staff of sorts at BYU.

So zero then?

Pretty sure that when two BCS schools schedule a home and home, money doesnt usually change hands. Im sure its the same when 2 mid majaors do a home and home. BYU and Unlv are a perfect example.

Im sure BYU is getting a good payday for the Michigan game. Good for them.
