What's new

BYU @ Utah basketball game......

Yes, not only did ESPN recap the game over and over, they did an interview with him and replayed that as well.
They were also giving him crap about the missed dunk... to which he emphatically let them know he can dunk, and has a few times this year, but that one didn't go his way.

Just trying to up his darft stock.

I didn't even watch a second of this game that's what Utah's basketball program means to me with Boylen at Coach. His firing is long overdue IMO. We know it, the players(whoever is still left) know it. Just who will replace him is the question.

I know Ute fans probably think that the PAC10 will solve all their ills in everything.

This may be what you want, but it is far from reality.

I'm not aware of any ute fans that think a simple change of scenery is going to cure the ails of Utah basketball. The problems are deep rooted, and it's going to be some time before we are playing at a major conference level. Any fan with an iota of common sense would recognize that.

I like you, Thriller, but you seem to have a skewed sense of what Utah fans think and feel. It's like you cannot let go of the fantastical stereotype you've built up in your mind. It erodes your credibility to an extent. You make some good points, but they're difficult to properly digest when prefaced with a diatribe on the fantasies and delusions of the entire fan base.

FWIW.

I wonder if there are any Ute fans around here this could describe.

I truly hope the Utes fire Boylen quickly. I'm tired of watching BYU blowing out Utah in Basketball. It's not even worth buying tickets anymore to watch 10 minutes of Basketball and then 30 minutes of BYU creaming some HS scout team(at least, that's how it appears to me).

I know Ute fans probably think that the PAC10 will solve all their ills in everything. But that program has a hellishly long way to go. Not much talent, hardly any depth, not much improvement from vet guys, and no excitement in the gym (hardly anyone comes anymore).

For so much talk about Utah Football taking over the in state recruits, look at what BYU and Utah State have done. Tai Wesley for Utah St. And team Utah County for BYU. Utah has been completely destroyed the last 5+ years in in state recruiting.

You're not wrong with anything you just said, but how soon you forget that EVERY single thing you just pointed out could have been said about the BYU program in the late 90's. Didn't they actually have a 1 or 2 win season? BYU turned it around. Credit to them. They have a great coach who is recruiting the right kids for his program and they are executing his plan. I'd be sky-high if I were a Cougar fan right now.

With that being said, let's not pretend that Utah is 20 years away from achieving relevance again in basketball. Obviously, much needs to be done, but just like BYU, Utah can get it turned around once the program is in the right hands.

I'm just using the same rational that based the Utah State game for everything. Clearly.

And the same emotional response as saying that the tide has shifted in the battle for in state recruits because of weed Langi choosing Utah over BYU (When BYU dropped their scholarship offer 6 months ago). Clean your own house before you point the finger at others.

I just read a blurb in the Sltrib in regards to Langi's current standing with Utah and I'm starting to get a terrible feeling that you were right about him.

It sounds as if Langi has graduated from Bingham early so he could enroll at Utah and participate in spring ball. He's already moved into his dorm and has joined the team for the offseason conditioning program.

Interesting to see that a kid that's such a bad egg as Langi was already in position to graduate HS early and was eager to immerse himself into the Utah program and the influence of Coach Whit. We'll see if the kid can walk the line long term but it sure looks as if he's off to the right start.

Projecting does not become you.
