Can Lucas Getting Cut Be That Far Behind

bizarre to think that a player like lucas3 could be so highly regarded by lindsay that he was our FIRST CHOICE to back up trey this year. signed on well before training camp and has seemingly been given the green light until this game. from what i've seen in 9 game this year he is terrible: cannot (won't?) run a fast break, always looking to get his shots off, can't stick an open 3 and seriously looks like he's palming the ball all the time. i keep waiting for him to get whistled on it. in fact i don't know why but it's really frustrating just watching him dribble... maybe it reminds me of all the weekend wannabe warriors i play against.

When the Jazz signed him this summer I was stunned. First because he didn't seem to be a thoroughbread and secondly because of the family history of substance abuse. The old man was a druggie extraordinaire and has seemingly cleaned his life up but often the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It would be one thing to invite him to camp but to give him guaranteed money. If this was Lindsey's decision it was a doozy.

Lindsey saud on 1280 when he signed him that he's known Lucas since he was in diapers, both went to Baylor, etc. It was basically gross nepotism, but I didn't want to freak out too much since he is a tank commander, but at the same time I was upset because I thought his sub par play could influence Burke and hinder development of other core 4 because if his inability to run the plays and see the floor.

Maybe some degree of nepotism, but IMO Lindsay's plan was to add guys who fit the following mold:

1) Good locker room presence.
2) Not good enough that Corbin would be tempted to play them excessively ahead of the young players.
3) Some degree of experience to help mentor the team (rather than an entire team of 1-4 year players).

Lucas and Jefferson are a pretty good fit all three ways.
Biedrins fits #2 and #3, I'm not personally certain about #1.
Rush may be in a different category. I've asked this question before: did they pick up Rush for the same reasons as Jefferson & Biedrins or do they view him as one of the assets they received in the trade?
Williams and Evans are partial fits, but they weren't added this offseason.
The rest are young projects (Gobert, Clark and Garrett) or guys needed due to emergency (Harris and Tinsley before he was released).

It's Lindsay's most successful decision yet! Tank is on!
