Can the C.J. Miles experiment please end?

Unfortunately, this statement shows just how low we've set the bar for this stank piece of refuse. There was a period (I believe late third quarter) where CJ went into full-out hopper mode for three seconds, did a lame crossover, pulled back, and shot up a very long two that hit nothing but backboard. In the few minutes following,he continued his sucktitude by committing two (or maybe it was just one?) atrociously awful fouls, making a dumbass turnover (that somehow is not in the box score), losing his man on defense (and this man subsequently hit a three) and doing something else dumb which is just blending in with the rest of ****tiness right now.

If we're objective about this, is it really good that analysts and some fans think he had a good game when he, overall, was just 5-12 from the floor (41.66%), drew no fouls and therefore had no free throw attempts, committed three fouls (a couple of which were beyond dumb), had his shot blocked three times (do those count as shots--if not he was really 5-15), and had just one assist? 11 points on 12 shots? That's a good game for him?

His contract can't end soon enough.

I remember resigning him was one of Gregg's first decisions. LHM was in the hospital and said he thought 4mil/yr was too much for CJ, but supported Gregg's decision. Turns out 4mil/yr WAS too much to pay for what CJ has done since signing that contract.

Wait wait wait, you mean for 4 mill he was expected to actually, you know, IMPROVE? Oh puh-leeze, you need at least 6-8 mill to expect improvement. 4 mill buys you a guy who is playing pickup ball while everyone else watches.

Apparently.

CJ makes tons of mistakes but he has made some very important plays defensively and on the boards.
no he didn't really. when you play 24min/game any useless scrub can get some lose balls that fall in his direction. In the last 2 games he averaged 4.5 rebounds but do you really care about an improvement of 2 rebounds/game?

his stats until now look as horrible as predicted:

MIN--FG%--3P%--FT%--REB-AST-BLK-STL--TO-PTS
20.3-.327--.368--.647---2.3--0.2-0.3--1.2--1.3-9.0

How are these stats that bad for a shooter?
Almost 37 percent from 3 is pretty respectable, although 33 percent at the rim.... and 64.7 from the free throw line is pretty bad.
Get this guy open shots from 3 where he is set, and he'll come through for you.
He's like a Shane Battier with some more hops.

Even though TY didn't play CJ much today, I think it is part of his strategy. Jazz have a game tomorrow against The Warriors @ GS, so we will need some fresh legs.

Let's trade him to Portland for Batum. Yea I know Blazers would never do it but a man can dream. Perhaps the Jazz could see if OKC is till interested.

See, I don't mind trolls like BluesRocker, because you know that they're not really that stupid. I'm not so sure about this one.

Can it? David Locke seems to think so:

CJ is not playing well. His mins are slipping. He is not defending or hitting shots. Great depth on team. Mins will slip

The 3Pt% is pretty good, his steals stat is a career high, but the rest of his stats are horrible, except his assist stat, which is putrid. In fact, his 2pt% is even worse than his overall %age. Having said that, the sample size is small - it will only take a single 0-3 game from deep to send his shooting percentages hurtling back towards the Raja Bell Line.

What these stats don't show is an area where he has actually improved this season - FTA/min. In seasons past, when he did drive - which wasn't often - he would pull up for a 3-ft flip shot rather than risk contact, and would usually miss as well. This season so far*, he is attempting FT at a career-high-rate, in fact at about double his career average. Perhaps he has finally gotten over his fear of contact? Unfortunately, he is shooting almost a career-worst rate from the stripe, some 15% down on his career rate. But like his 3pt shooting, the sample size is small, a few good games could easily lift it back up to his normal level**.

* caveat emptor - as with all things CJ, this trend is subject to change without notice.
** that is, if anything to do with CJ can actually have a "normal level".

Oh please no! I think he is still getting too much time. Jazz are much more interesting without him, and getting dangerous for other teams, but the clown can clank us out of any game. I might buy a ticket if they keep cutting his time, but not paying to watch the clown.

Okay, which one of you posters has the real name of Kevin Graham?

I was listening to the radio today, and whatever show I switched it to had Kevin Graham as a guest and they were talking about the Jazz.
Kevin said, and I quote to the best of my memory, "The CJ Miles experiment should end"

Is this line used anywhere other than here?
Oh, and he's a Jets fan.
Besides Catratcho, is there another Jets fan on here?

I guess I don't really care which one of you is Kevin... but I know you're at least lurking.
