Can the Jazz bust out the 'big' lineup?

How many years did we waste trying to make Burks a PG? How much better would he have been if we left him at SG this whole time?
We wasted about 2 months trying Burks as a pg when mo got hurt and all we had was watson and tinsley. So we didn't waste alot of time.

Where we wasted time with alec was playing him behind bell, howard, cj, randy, and dick jeffy.

If Lyles develops a reliable three point shot AND a post game, playing him at the three could be feasible. Since that's a very rare combination of abilities and size, playing three bigs at the same time almost never happens. And I don't expect it to in this scenario in the slightest.

If he develops a three point shot and a post game, you'd be crazy to play him at the three spot.

He'd be a dream PF.

I do agree with you here.

Lyle isn't a three.

Take away the 3 and take away the layup and you force a team to beat you with mid-range jumpers, the least effective shots in the game.

It depends on who the Jazz are playing. There are only a handful of teams with enough 3-pt shooting to burn a line-up like in the op. If they try it and don't hit enough 3s, the Jazz would have an advantage on the boards. The other challenge is getting back on defense to prevent early offense. The Warriors worked because they have the right combination of shooting, speed and passing from 4 or 5 positions, but few teams have the personnel to make that happen. Houston, Phoenix, ???

It would be interesting to test against the Warriors though. If Tristan Thompson was killing them on the boards, imagine what Favors, Lyles and Gobert could do. Those guys would block out the sun.

Remember the Lakers used to go big with Gasol, Bynum and Odom on the floor together. It kinda worked because Odom was versatile. However, they seemed to settle into a line-up with Trevor Ariza at the 3 and Odom off the bench. I think it was mostly to get spacing on offense.

The key, as you guys have mentioned, is Lyles' shooting. The potential is there.

Pleiss is the 3rd big in the big lineup. Then bring in Lyles as the anchor for the small ball lineup.
