Can the Jazz Vet Experiment end!!!!

Cry you a river? Ok.......Hey "Dude" go pull the winning percentages of Jefferson and Harris, great example of winning eh? You can kick rocks too.

Why all this animosity toward rocks?

Wasn't "Hey Dude" a Beatles song?

This is such an overreaction from a preseason game. Honestly the pessimism around this place is ridiculous.
Kanter and Favors logged more minutes than Okur and Jefferson, also there is good reason for Corbin to play the vets as much as he has. The entire team needs to get back into game shape, and they have had no off season and a very short preseason to do so. Remember, preseason playing time is much more about evaluating your team and less about winning what is really a meaningless game.

I agree. Some people on this board just want attention. They'd rather be overboard than bored. Of course, it's how you sell newspapers, as the saying goes. ;)

Also, you don't have to play young guys exclusively when you're rebuilding. They still have to earn their way onto the court. This helps them work harder and appreciate starting when they do finally get there. When people are just given things, there tends to be less appreciation and more selfishness. That's exactly the wrong thing we need.

I'd like to see Watson and Milsap stay on the team. I am open to trading Okur, Jefferson, Miles, Bell and Harris if it is a good deal. I am not willing to just slash and burn the roster though. Make thought out, logical, team improving trades. I do agree on giving the young guys more time. Let's see what we have.

I like the Jazz's philosophy of mixing young with veterans. However, I'm not 100% positive about Watson or Okur's abilities anymore but I do like them as people. Millsap has both ability and likability. Although, I do agree with the rest. They're good players but if there's a good deal to be had then it's in our best interest to pursue it.

Not every year, but most of the time, it almost feels like the Jazz are putting band-aids on things cuz they have to keep up appearances. However, this year's vets do play hard and seem to be willing to put the work in to continually get better. It's always good to have hard working, good work ethic, examples.

Besides, the Jazz will always look to add vets to their rosters. Always have and always will. It's just a matter of how many and at what positions?

Well first, I'd have to say the title to this thread is pretty retarded. It was one preseason game.... haha.
But anyway... getting to the quoted post.
I definitely think both Watson and Okur are worth keeping around.
Both have little or no trade value, and your not going to get anything better than them for Waston's price or Okur's "hurt" status and expiring contract.
Now some have said bundle Okur's expiring contract with Jefferson, or Millsap blah blah.
That would probably be cool in theory.... but I don't buy it, and most other teams wont either.
I wouldn't take anything less than Danny Granger (too expensive), or Paul George (a gamble).
How is it that you say "the Jazz are putting band-aids on things, to keep up appearences"?
This was the old Jazz philosophy, but that obviously changed last year with the Williams trade.
Instead of putting a band-aid on the D-Will situation, and making a dumb Kirilenko trade or something. They traded away the problem for some really good pieces and draft picks.
The problem with Okur is... if you can't get a decent offense going, your never going to get players like him open for 3 pointers.
That's what he's the best at, obviously shooting.
I also have a lot of confidence in Watson as well, and find it interesting that him and Jeremy Evans play the open court better than anyone on the team.
Now I know their mostly ally-oops plays, but I'm convinced there's more depth to the combo than that.
Okur probably isn't going anywhere, and with this shortened season you probably wouldn't want him too.
He's the only guy on the team that has ever proven he can be a reliable 3 point threat.
So if the coaching staff can get these "bigs" on the same page somehow, it will be pretty dangerous having Okur pull the Center out of the paint for them to do their work. If they go for the double team, then there will be Okur waiting for the open shot.
If not, then I'm sure we're all content at seeing Jefferson, Millsap, Favors, and Kanter scoring as much as they can.

I'm not saying "throw all the young guys on the court at all times." But while I agree that Memo absolutely sucked coming off the bench last year, there's no way that he should be starting over Favors. Favors may be the best player on the team when all is said and done.

Well..... they one a pre-season game.
So does this mean that people around here are going to quit acting like post 9/11 neo-conservatives with a doomsday scenario?
