What's new

Can the Shelvin Mack experiment please end?

You just can't lose all the games you are not favored. Gotta win sometimes against the upper tier too.

Sure. It's the "if Neto and Burke were playing the Jazz would have won more games" argument I'm just not buying.

Mack sucks. This shouldn't be a surprise if you look at his career so far based off where he was drafted, his minutes on each of his teams he has played for, his stats, and the fact that he cost a 2nd rounder to acquire.

People were way too quick to jump on the mack train and anoint him a great pick up. I thought he wasn't any good the day we acquired him and after his first two "good games"

Unfortunately, I was right

Our pgs are beyond poop... We can just pick one and cross our fingers but it's like picking between whether you'd rather eat a poop sandwich, poop meatloaf, or poop pie... Either way it's poop... Also poop.

Nate Wolters and Diante Garrett are looking pretty good right now.

Where's JLIII? I know Watson is now coaching but has Tinsley officially retired?

When the trade was made Erik Green was on this second 10 day contract and the Jazz had a 7 game winning streak. Our record since not so good.
C'mon, now. How many minutes had Green played? Mack is not the real problem, although he does nothing to solve the problems Utah DOES have. Jazz only have 3 scorers - and they're all inconsistent. And none are capable of taking over games when needed, at least not more than once in a very great while.

Jazz have one of the worst benches in the league - AGAIN. This is 100% on Lindsey.

And Rudy is playing like garbage. If I were Quin I'd send a message by benching Gobert for a game. Start Favors at the 5 and then bring in Withey. Sometimes tough love is the only way to go.

Mack played 268 games, only 14 as a starter before coming to the Jazz.

9 games and 8 as a starter with Jazz!

I can say only one thing, shame on you Quin!

Mack has looked good early but he just isn't a starting caliber point guard... especially when you're a team trying to make the playoffs in the West.

Or sending a message to the Front Office that neither Neto or Burke can cut it as the starting PG for the Jazz. Leaving Mack out their he blows his opportunity too. Get rid of Mack and Burke and at least see if Neto can come in next season and make it as Exum's backup.

Acquiring Mack is exactly the same strategy as DL used in signing Elijah: he wanted to go after Paul last summer and having his brother on the team was the incentive. But the Millsaps apparently aren't as close as the Morris twins. Now he wants Hayward to stay and will use Mack, Gordon's little buddy from Butler, as the carrot.

Shelvin is a sure bet to remain on the team next season. He'll probably start until Exum shows he can play 25+ minutes. Mack will only be re-signed after next season if Hayward returns. If not, his fate will be the same as Elijah's.

At the very least Mack sucking it up makes this post from ncoloradojazz all the more hilarious:

Last year after hayward was drafted all i heard for his argument was he lead a team to a final 4. I came on here and said he wasnt the leader or the 2nd guy even , he was 3rd option and i was bashed as being an idiot who knows nothing boutbball. A year later maybe some of you will own up and give me an apology where its due. MAck is a player the jazz should be looking at and i said it last year. Hayward was only 3rd option on the butler team. Mack was 1 and howard was 2.My props are due here. If you dont believe me drag up the threads from a year ago.

C'mon, ncoloradojazz, show your face in this thread so we can all give you your dues.

FANTASTIC find, Nate! Wish I could rep you multiple times for this.

If he keeps playing like the last two games, I doubt the Jazz will retain him. Neto has looked a lot better, and Trey obviously is on his way out, for a variety of reasons including that he wants to leave.
