Sacramento is said to be looking for veteran help. Well, what about giving them that help in the form of the cap space to do it. (This deal could be agreed to before the draft but not completed until July 1 because our actual cap space doesn't open up until then)
I would take on all $16.8M of the expiring contract of:
Derrick Williams
Jason Terry
Travis Outlaw
Reggie Evans
That gives them a payroll just under $50 and with the new cap going to around $62 they could offer a new large contract to someone, and that is even if Rudy opts in. If he opts out with a promise of a 3/$42M deal that would cut another $5M off for them and they might be able to have max space.
We could also swallow the contract of Carl Laundry of $6,750,000 for each of the next three years and leave evans and outlaw out of it and that gets them to close to $47M in committed salaries.
With #8 the Utah Jazz select: McDermott, Randle, Stauskis, Saric, etc. Or we package #8 and move up with #5 and get Embiid at #2.
My dream scenario is Exum slips to #5 and Milwakee wants to take Kanter & Exum for #2 which is Embiid.
Then we take on Sacramento's salaries and get: McDermott, Stauskis etc.
I say go for it.
