I think these complaint threads are hilarious. In all my time on this board and the other one I have received 1 warning (not sure it was even a warning just an email from a moderator asking me to refrain). To earn that warning I had to pretty much intentionally troll one poster for the better part of a month. We both trolled each other continually for a week in that thread before we were both told to quit. I can't imagine what it would take to get an actual infraction.
I swear you have to try. If someone just trips the profanity filter and has never done it, it never results in an infraction. Or at least hasn't since I've been around. And I'd wager that's what 90% of the reported posts are about. I personally don't care too much about swearing at all, but this is not my board. I don't pay the bills, and if the person who does doesn't want it I have no idea why his/her rules should be followed. This isn't a street corner where cops are arresting you for speech.

People who get one for trolling tend to have histories they built up. Then there is the occasional person who just tries to get away with the rules here. Someone here had an epic tirade a while back and was asking for infractions. So we granted his wish. But I say in general that a small percentage of people get infractions in a year. I managed to accumulate all of one in the 8 or whatever years I've been a member here, and it deserved (it was a profanity laced, filter avoidence tirade against the owner of the Sonics after he moved the team).

I've been on this board since the late 1990s. I've received a grand total of one PM asking me to take it easy on a poster who had made me the target of a curious theory concerning my identities, but was otherwise harmless.

I just wanted to bump this pile of horse crap so we can all laugh at Hopper and his crying. Sho'.

So what's your stake in keeping the "Hopper" legend going?

I had to dismiss the theory that maybe you were "Hopper" in dupe form because after reading a portion of the relativity/morals debate on OneBrow's blog I realized that OneBrow was right. Most of us, myself included, just don't pact the kind of intellect Hopper can trot out when he has an audience with any hope of comprehension.

You call that intellect? The fact that 99.9% of the world looks at his trash and says, "What the hell is this dumbass talking about?" should tell you something. Intellect is really being smart enough to realize that you're not that smart, and that you sound like a hipster douchenozzle when you use words and phrases that are straight out of a college philosophy text book.

In short, MillHopperBabe is a moron in in sheep's clothing.

I call it intellect, but I also distinguish between intellect and experience. The smartest people are useless when they don't have the experience adn training to propery interpret and apply their abilities. aintnuthin is a smart guy, but much of the time doesn't really understand what he is talking about enough to use his intelligence well.

You are informed when YOU have gotten an infraction and for what reason.

If it takes a poster more than four of those to figure out the boundaries, well then perhaps he or she shouldn't be here. Survival of the fittest, and all that.

Where do you go to see the infraction if you have one?

I believe (but am not 100% sure since things look different to moderators/administrators) that you see your infraction status directly above your Rep Power level. You don't have any infractions, so nothing will be there.

Therefore, he's not that ****ing smart.

Thank you for putting it a little more eloquently than I. +7 if I could.

Science > Your Opinion

I am offering an apology to aintnuthin, who apparently was offended by my comment. He did make a distinction I though he had failed to make, and I was in error about that.
