What's new

Catman Gorg vs. The Devil David Stern, Monday February 13 @ 6:00 pm mst

After the starters literally threw up their hands and quit early in the 3rd-qtr I loved seeing how the bench brought Utah back solely off hard work and hustle. We d'd up on NOH, protected the rim better, and didn't settle for perimeter jumpshots - we took it hard to the basket, crashed the boards, looked to finish strong and got to the foul line.

Kanter missed his first three shots but hit 3 of the next 4 attempts. To go with 12 boards in 22 minutes. Would love to see him, Hayward, Burks, and Favors getting a minimum of 20 minutes per game.

Good game experience for Kanter too. For awhile Kaman was taking him to school down on that right block...the face-up jumper, then Kaman used the right-shoulder fade-away to set Kanter up for a left-shoulder jump hook. Kanter's usually playing against backup centers and then goiing up against Jefferson and Favors in practice. Good for him to get some NBA minutes guarding a 7-footer with a versatile repetiore. Eventually Ty did realize it was a tough matchup and switched Favors over to Kaman for the final 3 minutes but Kanter will learn alot from that matchup.

I agree as well ..

Right. At the very least. I can't wait until management makes up their god damn minds on what our goals are. Time to go young.

Burks game more impressive considering jazz as a team shot what just 1 free throw the ENTIRE first half

Hopefully Howard or CJ get traded to give minutes to what could be the best player on the team- Alec Burks. He threw a pass to Favors that was probably on my top 3 Jazz passes of the year.

Anyone notice how they visited the motel where Martin Luther king was shot and learned a little more about black history in the Memphis game. Do teams do this all the time? Did it help some our players bond a little better or give them a sense of pride to win the game?

...yeah, that was the trick! Look how it helped them tonight against a 5-23 team playing shorthanded!!!

Can someone please clarify this for me, Who was teaching who how to win tonight? It looked like it was the Rooks and Sophs that carried this team when it mattered. Maybe my eyes were deceiving me.

Tonight's game has the most incredible +/- in the box score. Allow me to indulge you:

Bell: -3
Harris: -14
Jefferson: -9
Millsap: -16
Miles: -14
Howard: -14

Hayward: +8
Watson: +8
Favors: +10
Kanter +3
Burks: +11

That, my friends is a true barometer of who actually gives a crap about winning and playing for pride.

One of the reasons that I have enjoyed this season is the way this team is built. When we have good games I am happy because the Jazz win. Then there are nights like tonight. Yea, it frustrates me but I also really enjoy watching the young guys get better.

Favors had some incredible dunks. Kanter had 12 rebounds and 5 were on the offensive end. Burks is a free throw machine and he showed a lot of flashes of what he could be if he learned to control his speed a little more. The future is bright and it makes me happy.

something tells me in a years time, the final shot burks took today would have not only been called for a foul, but would have been an and1. i see star potential in this guy, he is fearless, provided good energy, some great passes, and he tried to dunk on kaman. im proud of the young fella, almost single-handedly brought us back to a winnable deficit.

Kanter's our best rebounder and he's only 19. When he develops an offensive game and becomes an even better defender than he presently is (and he's currently one of our best), he's going to own the + - stat. I'd like to see Kanter and Burks play together - I think Kanter will pull down even more boards when there's less structure.

Does anybody find Burks complete Gold? This kid is the scoring two we have been waiting for. He attacks and is not a *****. That dunk attempt on Kaman was impressive and I bet in the future that goes down and he gets the and 1. He is going to be such a hard cover, especially when he develops a better 3 point shot. Him and Gordon are so tough to guard in this pick 'n' roll situations from the wing. They both have handles and playmaking ability. It's incredibly fun to watch. If they collapse on the pick usually one of the bigs can get open or the opposite wing or pg. Hopefully we can get a good shooting pg who will knock down that 3.

This loss sucked, but watching all the youngens play at the end, was entertaining and makes me excited for the future.

You guys still whine about Al, but what about Millsap?
He is in a major slump and he seems to do this every year. I love the guy, but dang

And I think CJ is a lost cause. 1-8? Keep chucking and his shooting gets worse every year. I think it's time to cut him loose. Talent he has, but a 2 cent head. He wants to chuck 3's so badly, even though everyone in Utah knows that he should be driving.
When is the last time he even made a 3?

NObody is consistent on this team. Sure the young guys did well tonight. But they not even close to being consistent right now.

You guys are such whiners.

We were merely saving energy for tomorrow night!

Would you rather have a win against NO or have energy to avoid a crushing defeat of 30+ against OKC?

Is the glass half empty or half full? At least our guys will be well rested for tomorrow!

Devin Harris.

2 points.

We seriously might have the worst starting PG in the league.

give me Chalmers, Chris Rock, Jeremly Lin, or even Fisher Lied. At least Fish might hit a 3 pointer or draw a charge or do a good interview or something. Harris is worthless.

Where's Carlos Arroyo when ya need him?
