Cavs and Wolves Agree on Love for Wiggins/Bennett/1st

I'm not sure I'd say they got robbed but this is probably true. What was Kahn's other option? To get Klay Thompson? Meh. He's a good player and all but the Wiggins/Bennett combo far outweighs that imo so it was really the only option.
 
It looks they gave too much for Love to me. But it doesn't mean the Cavs can't compete pretty soon and make the trade look smart. We'll see.
 
Also, I will go on the record and say Wiggins will wither away there in Minnesota. Wasted talent that doesn't quite develop for 4-5 years until it goes somewhere else. And even then, later on, I think Wiggins will still just be an overall really good player (a more athletic Hayward maybe sort of) at the peak of his career and nothing more. A good third option. That's it. No HOF or anything.
 
Kevin Love is a good scorer and great rebounder but HE'S NOT A GOOD DEFENDER. In fact, he's pretty bad.

MN now has Wiggins, Bennett and a 1st. Bennett will be OK - last year was a complete nightmare for him but at worst, I think he can be a rotation player who plays 15 minutes a game.

I'm excited to see Wiggins and Rubio on the same team.
 
This is a fair trade for both teams.

Cleveland - As great as he is, Lebron's 29 and been in the league for more than a decade. He can still play another decade, but he wants to win now and doesn't have the luxury of time. Wiggins may be awesome four years from now, but nobody will take a 33 year old Lebron over his current self. Love gives him a better chance to win in his prime vs. Wiggins - simple as that.

Minnesota - Love was gone next year and you can either get assets for him and bite the bullet now or wait until you leave empty-handed. The protected first is going to be a late pick so it doesn't really matter. Bennett is a role player who is too small to guard PF's and not quick enough to guard SF's, but he could be a competent 6th man since he has a decent shooting touch. Wiggins is really the only thing that matters; he could be T-Mac or a poor man's Rudy Gay, but Minny isn't going anywhere so you may as well let him develop and hope that he can become a cornerstone for your franchise.

They need Love to do what he does well - score, rebound, pass and throw long touchdowns to LeBron. Varejao, TT and Haywood can handle the interior D.

Good Assessment.

I still think that the Jazz should try to get Andrew Wiggins now that Cleveland is trading him. Minnesota may love him, but they've been coy about it. If there's a chance to pry him away, I'd make a pretty substantial offer to try and pull that trigger. The Wolves and Cavs have until August 23rd to finalize an agreement. Between now and then I'd offer Kanter, Burke, the 2015 pick (unprotected) and the lower pick in 2017 to try to get him. I'd also facilitate the contracts of J. J. Berea and Kevin Martin. I'd bring another team in on Berea for some of our 2nd round picks and I'd keep K-Mart for depth and veteran leadership.

Cleveland gets Kevin Love (they're happy), Jazz get Andrew Wiggins (they're happy) and the Wolves get a jump start on their rebuild with Anthony Bennett, Enes Kanter, Trey Burke, three first round draft picks and a ton of cap space freed up (they're probably the least happy unless Kanter breaks out). Jazz starting lineup would be Gobert, Favors, Wiggins, Hayward and Exum with Booker, Novak, Evans, Hood, Burks, Martin and Clark coming in off the bench. That's a high price to pay, but if the Jazz could turn the tank into Wiggins and Exum and Hood. . . no words to describe how epic that would be. Two potential superstars from the best draft in a decade.

When Love is on the floor only one of the guys listed will be on the floor with him (probably Varejao).

But that is like saying we'll be fine with Kanter on defense because Favors is our rim protector.

Watching Love, a lot of guys dribble toward the rim, get within six feet, shake him and pop an often easy shot:

I agree with these.

A lot of people are underrating Kevin love because his teams have sucked. His numbers are ELITE though and he should fit very very nicely with Cleveland.

How many playoff games has Anthony Davis won? A lot of people consider him to be a top five player in the league.

This is true but a lot of people think Davis is better than love already. (Myself included)

Point is that sometimes really good players play on bad teams for bad organizations and don't make the playoffs. I think kyrie is very good and I don't think he has made the playoffs either.

T-mac was really good and had yao with him and those teams didn't do much.

Did Carmelo make the playoffs last year? Love playing in a very dominant west didn't help him.

I'm not sure but I think pippen missed the playoffs without Jordan

Is love bad at defense? Definitely
But he is a better passer, rebounder, and scorer than almost every big in the entire league....... including Anthony Davis

Well said.

I don't think Pippen missed the playoffs without Jordan. Jordan sat 1.5 seasons if I remember correctly and in the one full season he was out, Pippen was awesome and brought them to the second round of the playoffs, losing a game seven to the Knicks who eventually lost the NBA title in seven games to the Rockets.
