CBS sports with some pretty high praise for the Jazz

I think Golden State's bench is overrated. No way they're the #2 bench in the league. Livingston and Iggy are legit, everyone else is garbage...I think losing Barbosa, Speights and Ezeli will hurt them.

i think losing Bogut is going to hurt them way more that that

I tried taking a stab at minutes and it was tough. If we are healthy some guys will probably not be too happy.

I wonder if we do the thing where on backend of back to backs we play the bench guys that did not play the night before. Like ingles takes Joe johnsons minutes or neto picks up exums minutes. No idea how we work it all out but there are some interesting options.

I think their happiness will in large part be determined by w/l. If we are winning I think you can keep guys happy. If we are in the lower half of the wc playoff race there will be problems.

And IDK, I like our bench, but it's just wild to think of it as the best in the NBA. Kind of feel like it be might be overrating us, but I guess we do have a pretty elite bench if Burks actually stays healthy.

I'm more prepared to say we have the #1 bench than I am to say that we have the #5 starting lineup.

I initially thought the bench thing was a reach... Then I looked at the list. Iggy is likely the best bench player in the league but overall the benches look fairly weak... This could be a huge advantage for us. I think lyles could become a real weapon... I'm really hoping he doesn't disappoint.

Our bench is full of guys that have been starters, you could make an argument for them to start, or look to be future starters. That's quite a change from the last few years of D-leaguers.

I agree.
I think both are probably rated too high.

Either way, I this team has a lot of talent and should easily make the playoffs and fight for home court.

Nice for those of us who have always believed in DL, Quin, and the process of the rebuild finally have our day in the sun be so close.

I think Quin would best be served playing starters around 29 minutes per game early on. Less time than usual but balls out 110% effort on both ends since they should be fresher in theory. That opens up more time for the bench guys and 19 per game for each bench guy (overly simplistically speaking) may be enough to placate them. Obviously almost all of that depends on situations but in general, I think he'd be wise to take the Pops approach to not only keep guys both healthy but also (hopefully) content. If he does that and we get out to something like a 15-5 start, I think all players would be on board and rally around one another and we'd be on our way to building something really special this season.

Anyone want to take a stab at the players' scoring averages this year? Seems like we'd have a bunch of guys averaging low double-figures.

Extremely similar to last year but with Mack/Neto points going to Hill. I think Hayward breaks the 20 ppg barrier and Burks probably averages less per game.

you also have to note the insane positional flexibility of that group.

Hell yeah. An injury means extended minutes for a guy we can be confident in. I can't imagine a scenario in which we shouldn't be better this year. Even if we get hit by a similar injury bug as last year we should still make the playoffs. Ingles played a lot of mins last year but it might take 2 to 3 injuries for him to see anything other than garbage time this year. We got so much more versatile/deep while other teams were striking out. Bravo DL Bravo

Minute allocation could be a potential problem (assuming everyone stays relatively healthy) but, as somebody already stated, our level of success will likely determine whether that is the case. As someone else also stated, I believe Snyder will limit minutes in order to keep players well rested. I see the minute distribution being something along the lines of:

Hayward 30
Favors 28
Gobert 28
Hill 26
Hood 26
Johnson 26
Burks 22
Lyles 20
Exum 18
Diaw 16
Mack
Neto
Ingles
Whithey

Obviously this is an oversimplified estimation & the end of the bench guys will get occasional playing time but we have a legitimate 10 man rotation & minutes will have to be carefully allocated in order to keep our key players happy while, at the same time, giving enough playing time to our young talent in order to continue their development.

Assuming the team is successful, there should be enough minutes to go around (even if it isn't ideal). This will be a major advantage come playoff time (as players should be fresh) as well as in the event of injuries (which are inevitable during the course of an 82 game season).

I need to change my work schedule around the Jazz schedule this is going to be a fun year. I like these articles it gets the casual Jazz fan to pay attention since many haven't since the 90's. More sell outs and more engaged fan base would be a nice change as dumb as the casual Jazz fan may be at times.

This team is so damn deep. I'm over here getting excited over Hill, Hayward, Hood, Gobert, Exum, Favors, Lyles, Johnson... and how they are going to march right into the upper half of the playoffs in the west.

I'm about to ride this bandwagon right over everyone and what do I realize? That I haven't even thought of or mentioned Burks!

I'm with CL! Forget 4th! I want 1st! GO JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

All aboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!!! Here we come!!
