What's new

Celtics at Jazz, 1/26/2015 7:15PM MT Game Thread

btw why is gobert only playing 26 min ?? i'm starting to think they really aren't necessarily trying to win games at this stage, perhaps showcasing Kanter ...??
Gobert was getting scored on by Zeller, not Rudys best night. Kanter was 10 for 16 for 20 points.

Some of my thoughts.....

I wish that all the bigs minutes went to favors, kanter, and gobert.

In the first half trey dribbled way too much and was very indecisive.

The crowd loved rudy and even got some rudy chants going.

I was yelling at quin to get Hayward in the game early in the 4th..... Hayward should have played 40+ minutes tonight. When Hayward is out we have too many passive, indecisive, and just plain bad offensive wing players in the game. This is when we really miss Burks. At least he would be aggressive and put pressure on the defense and get some free throws, if nothing else.

The best part of the game crowd wise was when ingles was pestering turner. Crowd was going ape**** for ingles and even gave him a half standing ovation when he went to the bench. Ingles is physical and can play bigger or smaller in different situations. He was boxing bigger players out nicely tonight.

Zeller did not fear the stifle tower. Rudy couldn't seem to even get his hands up to challenge alot of zellers shots.

Sullinger is fat

I was getting into it a little with a Boston fan (there were alot of them) and at the end of the game I went down to him and said congratulations on your team hurting thier lottery chances...... our tank is stronger than yours.

lol

There has to be a balance in using the rotation of the 3 players. And whoever says that Gordon needs to play big minutes at 40 range is right to his bones. Unfortunately, the team has not any other player that brings experienced basketball brains and effort to feed the team basketball, make the ball move in the direction of winning consistently, except for maybe Ingles.

I believe this is because the Jazz lack the experience playing together in a solid system in which they would need time to comprehend their roles and don't push to achieve personal goals that are in contrast to team goals. Time is needed. But one or two more experienced hand to aid Gordon's contribution wouldn't hurt the Jazz. You have to learn to outsmart your opponent everygame. It's not just about outrunning them. Actually, if you are moving the ball good enough to outsmart them, you don't even need to outrun them. But how many choices does Quin have? Youth = Running & Vets=Moving the ball? I'm glad he is the type that tries to do both and be patient about his inventory.

Hopefully, the Jazz can rebound from this one. I missed the game, but I'm always sad when the Jazz don't win.

Well, it would also help if we had a starting SG (or even a backup). Can't expect much from Millsap and throwing Dante over there. Ingles has done an admirable job, but he's not a starter. Burks and Hood getting hurt certainly helps the tank. It will be very interesting to see what the Jazz in the draft.

Disappointing game. Not so much that The Jazz lost - they just plain old got out-worked by another marginally talented team that just wanted it more.

so burke took 20 shots and has 0 assists, what's wrong with this dude?

Locke mentioned this. 2 shots were beyond half court buzzer beaters and 2 were extremely bad shots he was forced to take as the shot clock expired. So it should be 16 shots to be fair, but that is still no excuse for 0 assists.

This, the problem isn't the shots per se, it's the 0 assists.. His job as a PG is based on the different routes run and screens set by his teammates to initiate the creation of a scoring opportunity. even if it isn't a very good one, odds of success are better for Favors/Kanter post up than for a Trey shot...

I don't buy this. Trey is inherently a chucker. How many times a game with the shot clock down to 10 does he iso at the top, run the clock down with a few back and forth dribbles, and then shoot a horrible shot. He stops the ball, and a lot of his "forced" shots are because of him. He ranks 61 in the league among guards for assists/48min.

He did take two half court shots at the buzzer. I didn't see any forced shots. The fact the last 3 shots were terrible is because he went into hero mode to end the game, as usual. One of them, he refused the screen as he dribbled the last 6 seconds of the shot clock away, and then took a contested three. Another was him running into the defenders in an unnecessary circus shot. Regardless, it's not like one game changes anything. Burke has always been a chucker, and I suspect he always will be.

Agreed. Saying he took 18 shots makes sense, because buzzer beaters should be out of the scope. His shooting would have been worse but he made a few in a row in the fourth (think he was 4-7, by no means blistering), and then Boler and Boone start going off on how great Trey is playing. LOL. But how many times on a fast break does he miss an open player? He is selfish. Not what a team needs in a PG, whether they start or come off the bench. He slows the offense. He is an anti-point guard. What I don't understand, is how Snyder allows it to happen over and over and over again.

Then take it up with Locke.

I watched maybe less than half of this game, but seems like both Exum and Burke were really awful (Burke looked okay when I was watching, Exum was playing bad). Hopefully we can just move on and forget about this one.
