Celtics Willing to Trade 1st Round Pick to Dump Gerald Wallace

They have #16 and #28... They probably are thinking about dumping the #28... I don't really like that to be fair. There are just so many young players we can keep developing at the same time. Whoever we draft, he needs to play some minutes in order to develop and with the current roster I don't think there would be many minutes left for a second pick in this draft.

In case we can't bring either Pleiss or Tomic over, I guess we can draft a center at #28(Upshaw?) and play him behind Rudy?

Another option... we decide to take it and use it as a trade piece/bait/sweetener... 12+28? Where does that get us? 10? Again, not sure it's worth it.

Well they have a ton of other 1st round picks in following years too.

My thought process would be: Acquire extra 1st round and Wallace, then use extra pick acquired and package with our 1st round picks (whatever combination necessary) to move up in this year's draft to get Stanley Johnson.

It's worth it if we have no other plans to use our cap-space. He only has a year left on his deal. Do we have 10 million dollars in free cap space? Are we planning on using it? If the answers are yes and no, then it's worth it by default if ownership is willing to spend the $$$.

We could also trade for Olynyk (4th big and we were rumored to like him in the draft, right?) since Boston is going to want to sign Kevin Love. I could only imagine those two dudes being on the same team after Game 4.

Yah, that's the only case in which this idea is worthwhile - if we don't have any other use of those 10M of capspace. (i.e. possibly no trades and possibly no major free agency acquisitions)

I say no way if we plan to be aggressive in free agency.

In the event that we don't, why not?

I think we could package our 1st + the #28 + another future 1st to move up to the 6-8 range. If it lands us Stanley, Mario, or Trey Lyles I am strongly in favor of this.

One of these does not belong.

If we had a deal in place to do this I would consider it. I'm just not sure that the #12 plus whatever we would get would move us to 8 or 9. I think Boston is just trolling Philly. You know Sam Hinkie has called, emailed, texted, and faxed Danny Ainge to talk today.

Nah, it makes sense that Boston would want to unload contracts to go after the big fish this year in FA.

If an extra 1st rounder could land us Hezonja/Winslow/Johnson, then I'd probably rather do that than use our money in free agency anyway.

Yah, I think I would do that, too, but I really doubt it will be enough to get us into that group of picks.

This deal would cost us Booker and the 3 of the other unguaranteed contracts. I doubt it would be for anything other than the #28 (because Philly would jump on that ish quick). #12 and #28 doesn't move you to the #9.

Not a bad find though. Last offseason for sure... this offseason prolly no.

Wait, Boston is proposing to pay a pick to part with a player?

Are the jazz willing to accept the asset and the accompanying has been?
