What's new

Chad ford: Blazers and Jazz.

Get what you're saying, but none of those address the PG issue ... and Zeller may not have a high ceiling, but he'll be a solid starter, runs the floor very well, and is very polished.

Fair enough. It all still seems to come down to whether or not you believe Lillard is an elite talent or merely a good one. If he's elite, he might be worth it. If not, you have to go with Drummond or trade out.

Agreed.

Yep. I'd think I'd go with Leonard who has a higher ceiling and also because, as much as I like Zeller, and I've heard no one say this, his standing reach and wingspan suck for a seven footer. SUCK.

Yep. He and all the Zeller boys are t-rexes.

I'm just not as sold on Lillard as most of the posters here. His age, passing, and awful competition make me very hesitant.

My b-day wish on that day is that a trade happens for Lillard and he totally tears it up 1000000000X more than CP3, d-will, westbrook, rondo, nash in their prime. Thank me later guys XD

His sudden rise is what makes me weary. The hype train just went into light speed since the combine.

The rise after workouts doesn't scare me.

Guys like Lillard who play in small conferences have that built-in to their draft stock their entire careers, IMO. I think the projections always peg them a few spots lower than where they should go because of that built-in fear of "of course he's killing people...look who he's playing against"

The combine and workouts are the first time they're consistently pegged against big-time talent. If they continue to perform well against this quality competition (albeit, typically in vastly different settings than 5-on-5 basketball) it only makes sense that they would rise up draft boards because the fear that they can only dominate sub-par competition is mitigated.

Having said that, I also view Lillard as an unknown. I've only seen him play in very, very small snippets. I'm sure he can play, but there's a difference between being a good player and being our Franchise PG. He better be the latter if we're going to unload Millsap for him.

All the workouts that I have watched Lillard is by himself.

My wish is trade for Beal, Barnes or Drummond if we move in the lottery. God, if Drummond lives up to his potential, a 3 big rotation down the road of Kanter, Drumond and Favors is INCREDIBLE

With that being said, I bet my friend $100 the Jazz dont make a draft day trade. Only one has been Deron Williams and we absolutely had to make that trade

And on that note - if we are going to unload one of our bigs for a draft pick, I'd almost prefer we go after Marshall. I'm not convinced he can't be a really good PG in the NBA. I don't quite understand his draft stock falling from the 6-8 range for most of the season to 15-20 nowadays (per the experts). It wouldn't take an arm and a leg to get into the 14-18 range.

Is it the combine numbers? If so, I don't get that. We all know he's not an athlete.

He was my favorite player in America to watch come February. Once he put his offensive repertoire together, it was game over (in case you weren't paying attention, he shed the "he can't score" rep the latter half of the season). I think he could be a 12-14ppg/9-10apg guy for the next decade.

Watch the Jazz make a 2nd round trade like they did the year they drafted and traded Amundson.

I haven't heard of anything about his workouts, so I'm assuming that he's not impressing or maybe many teams aren't interested.

I don't want to post a new thread about it, but it looks like Dallas would like to move Lamar Odom to the Clippers, who would then move Mo Williams to a third team. The Jazz might be able to get Williams with their trade exception. Williams makes $8.5M next year, which is the last year of his deal. It's a bit expensive, but could help tide us over another year if need be.

I'd rather just keep Harris. If we are trading Harris though without receiving or drafting another PG, that could be an option.

I'm sure we would keep Harris. I figure a player like Williams would come off the bench in a 3rd guard role.

Mo Williams as a 3rd guard? On the Jazz? I'd argue he may be better than our current starter? Am I taking crazy pills?

Millsap for Lillard makes me wary. However, hearing that SAC may actually be interested in Lillard at #5 could mean that either Barnes or MKG would be at 6, which in that case I'd make that trade with POR.

Is anyone else thinking that maybe POR and SAC want to make a deal with us, based on the fact that both of these teams appear to be so high on Mr. Lillard, and knowing that we want him? I can see why POR may have interest (although to say he had the best workout since Durant seems a bit much), but SAC with 'Reke (granted he could be on his way out), Thomas, Jimmer & Thorton, it would seem really odd to use another top 10 on a guard. But hey we are talking about Petrie and the Maloof gang here, so who knows?
